Hi just to back up what Philippa said, Paul was extremely helpful and did not try to pursuade me any way. He explained the differences and offered a 14 day trial money back guarantee for any machine so I can see what they are all like, which is good as it is very difficult to make a decision when you cannot try them before you buy. Many thanks for all you comments, much apreciated. I'll def follow up on the reduced price of the Body Shakers. I'll let you know how I get on.

Kind regards Rachel

Philippa...

Even one report of a distributor influencing a consumers choice from steel to plastic, is one too many. It is a very slippery slope from there and I have seen the damage it can do. It always needs to be addressed and by doing so drop the incidences this happens..

No need to apologize if it was, or is true.

Samantha...

I have had 4 Body-Shakers being used in a studio along with the safety program. Should speak for itself.

Hi samantha

If it is for home use the body shaker junior will be fine for you, contact Philippa Church by clicking on her name on this forum and she will be able to help you as she has a studio in the U.K and I think she has a body shaker you could try.

Sorry - that last post was truncated.
What I am trying to ascertain primarily is whether the smaller footprint of, for example, the bodyshaker junior will restrict my range of exercises or if the limitation is exclusively in the range of motion associated with each exercise.
Many thanks in advance,

Hi Mike thanks for the response.
I am in the UK and I had narrowed my search down to hyergravity and bodyshaker based on what I'd been able to glean from these forums. The number I mentioned is the "worst case" or higher end scenario on the hypergravity solution as per their listed price-sheet.

Hi Rachel,i actually bought 2 Bodyshaker juniors from Paul Healey and have had no problem with them or him at all. Also at the time i paiid 800 pounds each for them. One was ex demo and one brand new in wrapping.I asked him how he could sell at that price and he explained that most of his customers preffered the look, spec and price of the PP copies and that he was basically following market trends.I collected them myself and he even helped load the machines himself. The machines are used in a home setting not gym or club and have given no trouble and good results.I dont know how much you have been quoted but i do know at the time i was dealing with him he wasm also offering a decent price on the Bodyshaker Pro model. Both machines came with a full 2 year warranty in writing.
Please note this is just my experience and i am not affiliated in any way to Paul Healey.

The Body-Shaker wins hands down.

I hope Body-Shaker shake lose that distributor, as I have seen real damage done to other companies such as Fit-Vibes sales by their distributors who put profit over customers needs in a number of countries.

Thanks for the messages. I have since ruled out the my5, the DKN (being too soft), the Horizon and the the Vibrogym domestic.. which were all on my shortlist. Having spoken to Philippa (who has been very helpful), my list now consists of Body Shaker Junior £3200 or perhaps an Ultim8 Pro +.

The Body Shaker has 360w motors and the amplitude is only 2-3mm, with 2 yr warranty and a plate size of 75cm.

The Ultim8 Pro + has 400W motors, amplitude of 2-5mm (Hi Low setting), and a 3year warranty on parts and labour, plus an 85cm plate.

I know there is alot od priae for the Body Shaker Junior, but nothing on the Ultim8, what would the experts suggest I purchase for strength and toning in my UK home?

Thanks again, Rachel

To be fair, the research done by the European Assn of the study of Obesity showed good fat-loss results from using a PowerPlate machine.

The difference is that the machine they used had much higher force than the home version My5 !!!

Hi Rachel
Yes if you click on my name it will link to the website and you can email or call happy to talk with you about what you want. I would agree Powerplate bad idea! I would say your best bet would be a second hand Bodyshaker(Junior or Pro) or Vibrogym Pro (not Domestic!). Or failing that a new Bodyshaker Junior (RRP £3500). If you are really limited budget wise there are several companies that make an exact copy of the Powerplates at about a third of the price.
