Poster Boy
Lloyd submitted this photo of himself standing on a vibration platform. The photo comes from a poster with the motto “We design the machine, you design the body”.
Lloyd claims that for the last 18 months the only workouts he has done are vibration workouts.
If a picture is worth 1,000 words then this self-portrait says a lot.

The following questions come to mind:
- If I wanted to achieve the same results could I simply go to a Vibration Studio and start “working out”. Which machines can I trust?
- How do I know if the personal trainer actually knows what they are doing?
- What was the regimen that Lloyd used to achieve these results (how many workouts per week, which movements or stances, duration of “sets”)?

April 18th, 2008Mike, Seriously, you’ve provoked an idea - If You, Lloyd, Tom and others did a pic or pics showing the benefits of Vibration Training for guys, then it would be a super marketing tool.
I’ve got to admit that many of the guys in the gym look good but they have to work very hard to get that look. I’m not saying Vibration Training is easy as it’s not .. but I think Lloyd… okay, and You
… show how good a guy can look and how healthy, just by using vibration training plus for some, maybe some regular walks, runs or just a bit of manual work.I’m not saying that Vibration Training is an “all you can eat” exercise program although it definitely can be that and many people don’t need anything else, but rather that even used solely, Vibration Training can make a guy firm up, lose fat if needed and look great.
Your poster pics would encourage guys to come along and their girls would chase them along to your studios. Then of course, as girls will not be outdone by their guys so they’d get on the program also and gain all the benefits that come to girls from wbv.Good idea?

May 22nd, 2008Hi Lloyd,
This may be a silly question, on your vibra-train site your programs and posters do not show the traditional abdominal poses, ie sitting on plate. Is this for a reason.
regards,
Anna Yes , because it is super dangerous , as the consequences for someone who “forgets” to use a mat can be a cracked tail bone. And you would not believe how many people forget to use mats on a regular basis on poses requiring them.
Note: If they have spondylosis or any other degenerative spine condition it can lead to real problems.
After watching well educated personal trainers forget themselves it was put into the catagorie.
” The risks outweight the benifits”
I only promote poses that are idiot proofed as the fact remains most people are not keen observers and will hurt themselves if given half the chance.
Note: The plank positions are often overlooked in ab workouts as it doesnt just isolate the abs but works the lower back as well with equal pressure , which is seldom appreciated.
Some people think that by targeting say ” just your lower abs ” you will burn fat off them. Which is not true , as you cant target body fat.
Working larger muscle groups to fatigue ( king exercise poses ) is not only safer but burns more fat over your whole body.

May 22nd, 2008Lloyd,
Thank you for feedback, can you please explain to what is king exercise pose ?
regards,
Anna Any pose where you are trying to use as many muscle groups as possable , as opposed to isolation work where you just try to target one muscle.

May 29th, 2008Lloyd,
With regards to stances eg push up in the static position, do you mean just stay in the push up position but do not perform the push up.
Also how does one perform the full body tricep dip.
Your poster only shows the tricep dip.regards,
Anna Yes , Static = Do not move.
You cant do full body tricep without handle bars.
Anna….
Try not to take this the wrong way , so I dont want you to stop asking questions , but you now have a full commecial machine on your hands with no understanding of the basics.
If the questions you have posed are real then I am very worried for your safety.
Hi Anna,
Can you contact me directly from my website link.
Thanks Josh Wiebe

June 12th, 2008Lloyd, I talked to a personal trainer/gym owner about your static training and he was concerned about your flexibility. Any comments?

June 12th, 2008Tim, Has the Trainer tried Vibration Training? Does he know anything about it at all? I’ll let Lloyd explain the biomechanics but surely rapidly vibrating the whole body makes everything move about = increased flexibility. The vibrations induce the stretch reflex - stretching increases flexibility.. The thing that Trainers don’t get (and I know because I work with them) is that it is essential to remain relaxed when using the Vibration Machine and let the vibrations do the work for you. Tensing up is counter productive. If we ask someone to touch their toes (from standing) and they get so far but not completely, then they do the basic Vibra-Train program, then try to touch their toes they definitely have increased flexibility, measurably so.
I will write an article on this subject this week , as it deserves a better explaination than a blog.
Article written and sent in.

June 13th, 2008Thanks for your reply, Di Heap!
Yes, the trainer is using (and has used for some time) the top Fit-Vibe machine which he bought for his gym. He said that he knows some Swedish vibration training expert and that the 40-50Hz are pretty much useless as the vibrations are too fast for the muscles. He does static, dynamic and also uses added weight.
Tim…
You should understand that alot of “experts” place far to much trust in old research about local responses , with very little understanding of whole body exposure to vibration. Something they wont admit is still being researched.
Once other factors are taken into account , the picture changes dramatically , even alot of it took me by surprise and it seemed at times I was working towards an unrealistic goal, that was also heading in the wrong direction , according to common industry knowledge that is.
All I can say is alot of people are in for a shock and I really hope arrogance doesnt stop them from admitting they missed the elephant sitting in the middle of the room.

Some posts earlier when I asked Lloyd when he was going to so another “Poster Boy” Pic you said not to encourage Lloyd with too much flattery but that “You might be free”
Just wondering how the training’s going. Are you ready to do a Pic yet?

- Tim
June 13th, 2008Lloyd, I am aware of this. Science moves slowly in general. People tend to believe most of what they hear the company reps say and around 30Hz is what I hear from all of them.
Di,
As i am currently doing weights as well as vibration training for a bodybuilding comp in september i think it would be unfair to post a picture on this site as people may think i got my HULK like body solely from vibration training
One thing i have noticed is that after two years of no weight lifting and only doing vibration training i am a lot stronger, the down side to that is constant injuries from lifting too heavy

I guess its a great testimony to how affective vibration training is, 2 years ago my best effort was 500 kg leg press now i constantly do 600 for 10 reps.Mike…
Dont you mean “THE BLOB”.
OUCH, thanks Lloyd, you just hurt my feeling

June 18th, 2008Lloyd,
On your website you have a section on Lymphatic Drainage, can you please explain which poses relate to this and at what Hz.
Since exercising on the gym-o-vibe I’ve noticed, I’ve been retaining water, not always. I drink losts of water throughout the day and eat relatively healthy, have 48 hour breaks between exercises, strictly stick to your poster with regards to poses and duration, use 45 Hz /low amp. Other than this I am very happy with my progress, I have started to notice change in my body already. I have losts of energy and feel very strong.regards,
Anna All Fq and amplitudes will cause lymphatic movement , it just needs correct poses , movement and pressure.
Water retention…
Your muscles draw in fluid to help repair them , especially when you first start resistance training.
Dont dring too much water , you only need about 4 glass and you get the rest you need from your food.

June 19th, 2008Hi Lloyd
Can you tell me whether it would be better to exercise on a vibration machine (pivotal) in barefoot or gym shoes. I was just wondering if maybe a good set of shoes might actually reduce the amount of vibration going into your body. Shoes for better comfort , stability and arch support.
Keep away from very soft soles , but apart from that they should only help. .

June 19th, 2008thanks Lloyd
I am now on Skype under either Lloyd Shaw or Vibra-Train.
I will keep it live and on “Skype me please” when in the studio.
Slightly off topic but I just have to say something…..
We wonder where people get the idea that’s its ok to stay silent over important ethical concerns. Anyone check out the gutless response from the IOC over the failure of China to live up to its promises , the ones it took so it could host the games in the first place.
They expect athletes to live under “full disclosure” guidelines , but when it counts they fail to do the same.
The IOC saying is ” The Best of Us ”
I really hope not.
In the name of not having double standards….
I am ashamed to be a Kiwi today if it is true that Fonterra and 3 of its directors ( a N.Z. company ) are involved with poisoning children in China with contaminated baby formula .
I am not interested in Fonterra making excuses. They choose to deal with ,obtain and distribute product from the Chinese knowing their recent history , all in the name of greed.
“In 2004, 171 babies were hospitalized, and more than 12 died, after consuming counterfeit milk powder….Some 40 companies were found to be making phony formula ”
Lie down with dogs , get up with fleas.
When it’s food products I don’t think we can trust some countries and with baby food or milk powder, obviously it’s essential that it’s correct standard. New Zealand and other businessmen must make better judgments about who they “get into bed with”. Greed is behind this. Making money no matter how and no matter how poor the product as long as the profit is high.
This sounds very like the Vibration Training Industry problems that are exposed on this blog. Sadly, the illness already caused by contaminated baby milk powder can’t be as easily corrected as throwing the poor quality machine away.
Does this sound familar….
“What kind of checks and regulation by Fonterra of their Chinese operations were carried out? I’m sure they checked out how much cash would be in it for them”
Thats one of our politicians asking the same questions we have been asking on here about companies like Power Plate.

A problem, Lloyd. The site with a similar name to this one is higher up the Google list when I search using Google in my Mozilla browser.
It is important for us not to click onto that similar site name but rather to choose this site! This moves it further up the list and makes it easier for newcomers to find as you said. Also Your site is at top of page and there’s a link from that to here so that’s a great option.
Hey Lloyd, when do we get to see a new Poster Boy pic? The one on this article is getting all tattered and falling off my wall. I’m sure many of the chicks reading this site would like a new updated pin-up boy poster.
