Which Vibration Machine?
Doc asks:
I am in the process of setting up a weight and life style disease management center. I would appreciate if anybody could help me make a choice out of Galileo and Turbosonic. Please explain why the machine you choose is better. This could mean a lot to me because I have never used any WBV machine. I am really counting on your opinion.

I have no direct knowledge of anyone using the Body-Vibe unit but I can tell you at $3,400 ( U.S. ) for a single motor Asian built machine someone is making a huge profit somewhere.
Health industry or Wealth industry ?
They did not design that unit, as that is what has been implied on their website , it has been available for some time under different names.
See link….
http://www.dkn-lifestyle.com/dunlop-aerobic-trainers/dunlop-aerobic-trainer-pid-1.html
The original version was released in 2005 by Dunlop Sports and the smaller units were marketed as the DKN series. I still have all the marketing material from the launch.
As for your Doctor I have never seen any paper or article written by him that would suggest to me he is an expert in Vibration Training.
In my opinion he is a marketer , no more no less , and should be treated like such. Harsh I know but you decide.
This is the Dr’s own words in an article…
“Last year, a fitness instructor patient of mine introduced me to whole body vibration.”
but on his website he says….
“Body Vibe International Inc. has utilized its vast experience in vibration training and research to develop a vibration platform….”
One of these things is not like the other…….

June 30th, 2007Thank you soooo much Lloyd. I appreciate your assistance!!! I understand that their concern about dual motors was that it was too jarring and caused injury to patients–because the motors are not truly synchronized. They sell other WBV machines in their Doctor’s office–but they say that this one–the BODY VIBE Pro 6000–is the best.
Is there a cheaper place to get “this” machine—– if you think it’s ok—-I couldn’t get prices from the links you have listed above. Dunlop seems to be in EUROPE and I contacted The Aisan link you had– but I’m trying to get prices and direct info.
OR do you have a better one in mind for my purposes of both therapy and exercise???
I very much appreciate your guidance. THANKS!!!
Hi Lloyd:
You are probably aware of our discount warehouses in the US. COSTCO has a great reputation and stands behind their products or gives you your money back. have you heard of this machine????
“The Ironman Fitness Machine”???Costco Ironman Fitness Vibration Machine
I hope the link worked.
THANKS!
Therapy only , not a workout model. That will be your biggest task as the production price difference between a Therapy and Workout model will be quite large.

Hope Dr. De Orio would come on here to clear this matter up himself.
(1) This article is identical to the one he uses now for promotion of the BodyVibe , but it appears he has just replaced the name PowerPlate with his own unit.
Love to hear the explaination for that one.
(2) The PowerPlate website lists him as a user.
(3) The Vibro-Gym website lists him as a user.
(4) Vibra-Slims website also claims he uses their product even though it is pivotal.

July 1st, 2007Hey Lloyd–every time I punch in— WBV–on GOOGLE–your name pops up all over the place. You are truly such a source of honesty and great information ——-for the rest of us—- just trying to learn to and buy the right machines. Thank you for your assistance to the rest of us!!!
Also, THANKS for the above information. I found it very enlightening regarding my “new” doctor. I always find it such a “conflict of interest” when you are selling the things you are prescribing for patients —at such a high mark up. As you succinctly said—-”Wealth not Health Industry”!!!
I checked out the “WAVE Machine”–since you mentioned it on someone else’s post. I am still waiting to hear back from an email–how much the machines COST—since they don’t list the prices. I don’t mind spending the money (making the investment) for a machine YOU believe is WORTH the money and will last and do what I need.
In addition, to what I said above– I have been very ill with Chronic Fatigue, weight gain and injuries to spine and neck-etc. ALSO–My husband is 6′4 and over 200 lbs of muscle–(former OLYMPIAN) -so we would like a machine we can both use and that will last.
So, we should keep looking into WAVE????
What else–what other machines can you recommend???? Also, do you know about what they cost US????Thanks,
LUV TOONCES
Southern California, US - Luv Toonces
July 3rd, 2007Hi Lloyd–The WAVE machine starts at around $8000 US. Can you recommend some other machine that does therapy and exercise for half of that–that will work for my husband and I??? Thanks
Toonces…
I hope the info I sent you helps. I sent it you e-mail as putting it up here could be seen as marketing .
Is this a good home use machine?
ie. the vibra-trim.
It is a Therapy unit that may give results for a short period of time.
Note: These are also the same units we have concerns over. The people who sell them seem to be willing to say anything to shift them. Regardless of the publics safety.
Hello Lloyd,
Your comment is very kind to this VIBRA-TRIM. I found the machine that bears this VIBRA-TRIM brand name is identical to CRAZY FIT MASSAGER. If they are not coming from the same Chinese manufacturer, the Chinese manufacturers are copying each others. I would not call them “Therapy units”.
To Harry,
These cheap machines no matter “VIBRA-TRIM” or “CRAZY FIT MASSAGER” or else, they are poor replica of pivotal plates. They shake a person really like crazy. They can bring negative side effects from motion sickness to injuries on back muscles and pelvic joints.
Since these machines are so cheap in prices, they are built with low quality motors. Their work frequency may not match with setting. There have been complaints that they would break down in short time.
Don’t waste your money and risk your health on these cheap vibration machines.
TC
ok thanks, I assume Vibra-Slim falls in the same category then, what about Turbosonics, they seem really expensive but are they better?
Please just give me your best choice right now for home use, to save me some research time, thanks.
Lets put it this way. If Turbo-Sonic offered me one for free , including shipping, I would say no.
They can test me on this if they want.
Note:
I dont do this often so catch it quick. I am getting good reports about BodyShakers new “Junior” which is their new home version. They are made in the same Dutch factory as the units I still have ( 4 of them ) I brought in back in 2004. And yes they still work.
These poor guys were swamped with unethical competition and I thought they may not make it , but seem to have come out the other side uneffected and still not comprimising on quality.
Good on you boys.
Their site seems to suggest they are available everywhere.
Thanks a lot, I could not get any price info on the web site, do tehy have agents in US or do I have to call Netherlands?
Sorry dont know. You will probably have to call Neitherlands. But dont worry about the distance , they where very honest in my dealings with them.

August 4th, 2007Hi Guys,
Wanted to know if anybody had any comments about the VibePlate vibrating machine that is sold by the company of the same name based in Lincoln, Nebraska. Am thinking of buying one but thought I could check first. Would appreciate any comments or advice. Thanks
I have not had any direct feedback about that particular unit, but from its specs and dimensions I would conclude it works on the basic destabilizing theory of most platforms.
So it would function but that function would be limited.
Cation: The pose on the advertising for the unit does raise concern over their experience in this field .
- Ray
August 4th, 2007Thanks Lloyd. Why do you say that the function would be limited? Is it because the unit is a simple platform without bars (to hold on to) or something else?
I have several questions about this VibePlate:
1) Its platform looks thin, there is little room inside the housing for installation of oscillator(s). In other word, the oscillator is small and I have doubt with the power of this small oscillator.
2) It does not provide holding bars. A number of poses like squat become impossible. Without holding bars, it could also be danger for the exerciser.
3) Its frequency starts from 10 Hz. As we have repeatedly emphasize here that frequency below 20 Hz is the resonance frequency to internal organs. I am concerned about the safety of VibePlate.

September 11th, 2007We have used the VibePlate, and for us it is one of the few platforms that make sense. And is the most durable platform we have seen. Because of the platform, you can do squats, lunges, whatever you want. It’s those with handles that you can not do these exercises. Plus VibePlate has the option to add one or two railings if you wanted to. We have gotten great results in training athletes (strength, vertical, speed, velocity and more), in fitness, toning, etc.
- mike Hair
September 11th, 2007Hi curtis I notice on the web site that Vibe-Plate use research from 3 different companies that use 3 different machines, And my guess is that 2 of them probably copied someone else’s research as well ???
- Wayne Campbell
September 11th, 2007Curtis, what do you mean when you say “its the only platform that makes sense?
I workout on a machine that has handles and I can do lunges and squats - so what are you talking about?
How can you judge the durability of the machine by looking at it?
- justin
September 13th, 2007Curtis, we have VibePlate and have had great results also. To comment on some of the others “comments”, if you look at the different vibration sites, nearly all of them have repeated what others say, and you said it was the only one you “had seen” that makes sense, evidently Wayne did not understand that.
Good Vibrations

September 24th, 2007Dear Lloyd I live in Australia, a vibration machine called (Vibroform)priced $1350.00 is being promoted in a shopping mall. I am hoping you can tell me more about the benefits and restrictions on this vibrating machine as I beleive, after reading your blogs you will give me an honest assessment Thanking you Cynthia Houston
Cynthia…
VibroForm is not the machines real name as I saw this on a VibraSlim model last week , they have probably changed it again to avoid the bad press these Chinese made units are getting.
To confirm this….
Go to http://www.alibaba.com and type in Vibration Training into the search box at the top.
Identify the unit and tell us the name next to it.

September 30th, 2007Does anyone have any comments about the vibraxis / big waves machine? I have used it with a personal trainer and it made a big difference - but people here seem very “anti” pivotal machines…? I have severe joint hypermobility, particularly through my spine and have had severe headaches after using both a power plate and a vibro gym, but no adverse reaction after using the vibraxis, even after doing a press-up type position on it. I know I may have to go up to around £3000 - but would be very keen to spend less if necessary. Is it a really bad idea to get this type of machine? Thanks
- mike Hair
September 30th, 2007Hi Tamzin..
The above machine looks similar to the one’s I have. I have replaced the bearings in all 4 of them in the last 20 months, one of them twice.
It’s not that people are anti pivotal it’s just that they have the potential to hurt you if not done properly. I wouldn’t go above 30 hz, infact we don’t go beyound 24 hz in our studio’s. It is not that we are anti-Pivotal, its just that it should not be compared to Lineal but trainers and salespeople are ingnoring the safety concerns .
The particular unit you are looking at is no better than a unit costing $125 in China. Mike has most of the experience with these machines in real time so listen to him.

October 1st, 2007Thanks for your help! More questions - becuase of my condition, the areas I need to focus on are core and pelvic stability and strengthening muscles around joints to help keep them in place - but with as little stress transmiteed up my spine as possible (becuase my spine is too straight and doesn’t absorb so well). That suggests to me that a pivotal is better as more is absorbed through the hips. Is that likely to be right? I need to get stronger so that I can then do more aerobic exercise as well, according to my Dr (although I don’t need to use it for weight loss). What do you think about the “K-1 Platinum Aerobic Exerciser Machine” from Aesthetic MD? Is that higher quality? I’m only talking about home use, for 10 minutes probably 2-3 times a week - not a studio or anything. If you can suggest what might be a good one to look at I would be very, very grateful - I am getting so confused. Thanks very much
Yes that is a better quality unit. But ignore the test results marketed by that company.

October 2nd, 2007Tamzin
Your spine is too straight? That sounds like an interesting explanation? I think posture be more of an issue? the spine isnt designed to be loaded.
I personally would look at postural rehab programme for you, and use a linear machine to assist in that department.
You can still use a lineal platform to activate stabilisation of the pelvic in much the same way as a pivotal plate works.
Hope that helps?
- MikeyB
October 2nd, 2007Harvey just think about the problems of having a spine to straight and it does make sense why she has these problems.
If your spine is straight it wont work as a shock absorber very good and thats where you will get some problems.
But as you did say unless she stands completely upright with her heals flat on the platform I cannot see why the pressures wont be absorbed by the knees and hips.Good posture again being the key
Yes, correct positioning and Fq combined with minimum amplitude should get around any spinal issues.

October 2nd, 2007Lloyd,
A question about lying on the platforms.I never lie on the VibroGym platform I use but I have noticed a lot of advertising pictures, websites and training posters where people are lying on the platform.
Some are ab exercises and some are just back massages.I have been told that you cannot lie on any type of WBV platform as any types of vibration directly on the internal organs is dangerous.
Is this the main reason and if so can you please allaborate?
Also its mainly the plastic therapy machines that allow you to lie on them as they say because the levels of vibration are lower then its safe.
Is this true?Thanks
Mikey Sending vibrations directly into your internal organs is not advised. The risks in my opinion outweight any possible benifits it may have.
Indirect stimulation through the body should be enough to give your organs all the stimulation they need.

June 29th, 2007
Hi Lloyd–I have read this entire blog (and others) in hopes of educating myself. I am hoping you can help further.
My new Doctor is THE Dr. DeOreo of the above mentioned “Body Vibe International”. I recently had my first visit to his Medical Clinic in Southern California, USA and the “BODY VIBE” machine is prescribed as an essential part of the healing program. I have been quite ill —for quite some time with my hormones, adrenals, digestion, absorption and many things out of whack. I gained a large amount of weight–over a long period of time–all while excessively dieting and working out-(I was an athlete)-until more recently. I have injuries to my neck and spine and hips which made me give up on regular exercise.
I cannot afford to buy the wrong machine. My new doctor’s office highly touts this “BODY VIBE” machine at an investment of $3,495.00 —-Which is far above my pay grade!!!–OUCH!!! They say they have researched and used other machines in the past that have caused damage to their patients.
I have great respect for some of the things he said in our initial meeting–but I have a big problem with “conflict of interest” when the Vitamins and Vibration Machines prescribed ——are sold by them—— at such high costs to the regular guy/consumer.
Do you know enough about this machine —from your wonderful brain of knowledge— to give me an even more informed opinion???
My email is LuvToonces2@yahoo.com if you want to contact me personally.
I would welcome opinions from anyone who has used “this” machine–that is NOT selling it and NOT getting a commission.
Thanks soooo much!
