Which Vibration Machine?
Doc asks:
I am in the process of setting up a weight and life style disease management center. I would appreciate if anybody could help me make a choice out of Galileo and Turbosonic. Please explain why the machine you choose is better. This could mean a lot to me because I have never used any WBV machine. I am really counting on your opinion.

Any lightweight Lineal ( not pivotal ) unit should do for your sons therapy. What does his Doctor say about this , if anything ?
If you want a Training model you will need to spend about 4k. What country do you live in ?
- Shannon
March 30th, 2008Thanks for the response. I live in Louisville, KY. I believe the reason they use the machine in therapy is to improve balance and provide some deep pressure to increase body awareness. Have you ever heard these machines to be used for this? I have not discussed with his pediatrician — I’m sure they would not have knowledge of these machines, especially for that reason. How do you know the difference between Lineal and pivotal. Is the K1 pivotal? I guess they would differentiate between the two in their product literature? I’m very new to all of this so any insight you can provide, or specific recommendations, would be helpful. Again, thanks so much for taking the time to respond!!
This article should explain ….
http://www.vibrationtraining.net/2007/02/pivotal-and-lineal-machines
Ask the manufacturor if it is Pivotal or Lineal.
- Shannon
March 31st, 2008Thanks, Lloyd. I can’t afford anything over $3k and am starting to wonder if I should get any of the machines if that’s all I can afford. I’m still looking at the K1. Would you not recommend this machine since it’s pivotal? Obviously, I don’t want to waste money if the results will be minimal.

One last question, then I’ll stop harrassing you! Do you know of any company that would lease one of these WBV machines to a consumer? Thought that could be another option that would fit our budget. Again, thanks so much for your help!! - Paul
March 31st, 2008Shannon,
If it is a Noblerex K1, it´s pivotal.
- Shannon
March 31st, 2008Thanks, Paul. I assume I need to stay away from Pivotal machines??!
Shannon,
Pivotal/ Lineal; it depends on what results you are looking for.
From a safety standpoint the lineal machines are the easiest to train on with a lower risk of injury, provided you use good form and follow Lloyd’s training protocols.
Tami,
As much as you don’t want to hear from a rep…..Our personal unit runs with one motor. All our larger plates run with two. Two motors work very well if the manufacture takes the time to sync the motors correctly.
Tri planner/ 3D motion is caused by the motors not being sync correctly (not good for you).
There are basically only 2 types of WBV plates;
lineal: the plate surface vibrates up and down (vertically)
pivotal: the plate tilts side to side like a see saw. Some companies call these motions something different, but they all usually fall under these two types.

April 2nd, 2008Hi,
We are convinced from the advice on this site that Hypergravity the best option to buy for home. We want to use for general excercise/muscle toning to suppliment cardio (not full on training for professional events or anything).
Happy to pay extra for the Olympic Professional model because we want to make sure we’re getting the most from the technology - but is it worth it versus the Personal version - ie is there a lot to gain paying to upgrade to the Olympic version for our purposes and given only 2 of us using a couple of times a week?
Thk you in advance.

April 2nd, 2008Trev-
In the past I had expierience with Power Plate (big waste of time-at a studio), WAVE, HG.
I just got the HG Olympic Professional-well not exactly, it was just before the OP came out and they did not call it that at the time. It’s a hardly used 2005 unit and looks just like the OP from viewing the site(custom vibe. settings with knob-not preset levels etc).
I got lucky due to the housing downturn here in the states and got the unit off craigslist. I was shocked to find it, but the owner had to sell-it was a distress sale.
I had tried the HG before and would have bought the OP new in a year or two. This was just too good a deal to pass up. I also liked the fact they are USA made(steel) and based-just in case.
So why not the personal unit?
I like the extra heft of the larger machine. I am also of the mind that I wanted to get something and literally forget about ever outgrowing it or fussing with upgrades. The thing is a tank and I could not imagine wearing it out in my lifetime (just me using it). That said, the personal HG if I am correct is built with all steel- which I just don’t think you will find in a comparitive personal unit(plastic, china, etc.)It should last forever due to the matierials.
Lastly, Lloyd is not one for really throwing out compliments too frequently and he has said positive things with the HG.
Who knows maybe I’ll buy one of Lloyd’s machines when he decides to quit being so high-fallutin’ and sell to non-studios. I’m sure he’d love to throw me a discount((:
Hope this helps you…

April 3rd, 2008Thks KG, appreciate your help. But on a whole we wldnt really be losing anything on the Personal version, especially given it’s virtually half the cost?
I am researching whole body vibration units. I have found a great deal of information online - however, it can be difficult to distinguish the difference between marketing efforts and solid facts. I would like to implement whole body vibration IF it will be a successful and effective experience for our clients. Can anyone recommend solid study literature confirming the effectiveness and safety of these machines? Additionally, is there an appreciable functional difference between the $1000 through $15,000 total body vibration models?

April 20th, 2008Thinking or a motor vehicle.. Is there any appreciable functional difference between a $1,000 and $15,000 car? The cheaper one has wheels and gets me where I want to go but.. reliability, safety, performs up to standard, comfort so that I don’t feel dizzy or get vibrations from the road into my back or shoulders, or worsen my knee injury . . and with whole body vibration machines the differences are more serious! For $1,000 you might get a nice off-road beach vehicle that will shake your body to serious discomfort. Depends what your intended puurpose is really.
Simplefit…
Reading the articles under “topics” should indeed answer 90% of what you want to know.
The industry is too young to have definitive studies of actual different “types” of units. At best you will find stolen studies used by marketers.

You are partnered with PowerPlate. The most hated and unethical company in the industry.
No wonder you feel lied to.
Why dont you ask them the following…
1) Did Power Plate at any point in the past produce replicas and distribute them without informing the sales staff or consumer.
Yes/No
(2) Did Power Plate at any point in the past use specifications gained from university tests of a previous model to sell a new model by changing the images , (without an advertised legal disclaimer ) .

http://www.gideons.org/It seems some of the folks on this forum are identifying Simplefit.net with one manufacturer alone. It our country we have the freedom of choice. It is our goals to partner with folks whom provide solutions to needs…whether one particular group happens to agree with “the competition” or not. The fact is we simply DO NOT have a financial relationship with Power Plate – they are however the largest manufacturer with complete products, services, and support mechanisms which is what caught our attention. We have simply been sending our folks their way…We do hope to form a relationship with a quality manufacturer whom may simply provide appropriate solutions to our simple needs.
Plain and simple – we receive thousands of inquiries from both the consumer and commercial markets regarding exercise equipment. And as of late, we are receiving a higher volume of inquiries specifically related to “whole body vibration” training. I am looking to partner with a WBV manufacturer whom may best service our consumer and commercial clients alike. Please feel free to offer suggestions and comments free of any “attacks”. Just looking for a bit of help folks…

April 21st, 2008Simplefit its a shame that ethics and protection for consumers aren’t part of your criteria for looking for a partner. Seriously, in relation to the questions Lloyd Shaw has posted, would you really deal with a company guilty of such things? Would you recommend people to such a company?

Have you investigated closer to home? Instead of “Made In China” you do have a Made in USA manufaturer/distributor. As I have not used their product I can’t actually recommend it but the info on this website suggests there are reputable. Can it be that they don’t offer enough incentive (monetary gain) or have you not looked further than power-plate?

“In our country we have the freedom of choice. …..whether one particular group happens to agree with “the competition” or not.”
It is not anti-competitive to agree as an industry or individual that Power Plates display of marathon dishonesty is disgusting.

http://nii.nist.gov/Lloyd,
I have read your content pertaining to alleged misconduct on behalf of Power Plate. As most folks, of course I want to provide the best information possible…I guess that is why I joined a forum and have called many manufacturers to begin exploring these machines BEFORE accepting any offer from ANY manufacturer for any direct relationship. And like most folks, I simply offer advice based on my best faith that information supplied to me is credible. Whether one company or another agrees or disagrees with its principles, practices, and manufacturing techniques is not ultimately important to me. In other words…most folks lie, most are self-interested over all, and yes – people do typically worry about profit and are not shy about cutting corners. Does that mean that a manufacturer should “get away” with unsavory practices? Who’s to say that any of us “get away” with any poor choices we make…look, I’m not here to “win a war”…I’m not in the public eye to be a “judge”…I am here to simply try to help folks…DISCOVERY IS A PROCESS…and if not having every detail worked out in advance makes me some kind of “bad” guy…then like most – I’m the bad guy.
What is important, to me, is to gain a true perspective of the “good” that may come from an applied technology, therapy or exercise modality. If the vertical market sciences, technologies and tools used today can help better than yesterday…then, I’m in. So, again folks, let’s leave out any personal attacks and simply not judge each other as none of us simply can say “we know it all”…and indeed, know the true character of one’s efforts, ambitions, and practices…I think these things become apparent over the test of time.
I can state that I’ve been doing what I do for nearly eighteen years…nothing special…but, certainly consistent. I believe I have been rewarded for that consistency and service to folks all over the world…and yes, I certainly do bear responsibility for doing my best to be educated in the subjects from which I often advise. That said..let’s carry on.
There are general questions I ask when looking for a partner…being a partner with Simplefit.net means that we simply either use, advise, and/ or promote your product or service. Should we make money from this? Yes. Why? Because people come to us with needs and we advise solutions. Here are a few questions we typically ask of manufacturers:
What sort of program implementation/ success mechanisms are offered?
Please explain the electronic/ computer control system used…
Can the software be used with other management software?
What kind of education do you have developed for WBV?
Has your company produced any research/white papers on the product?
What is your penetration in the U.S. to date? Number of units sold?
Do you have a support/service program in place within the U.S.?
Do you have product warehoused in the U.S. currently?
What companies or individuals have you used previously to market/distribute your products in the U.S.?
Would your company be in a position to offer leasing if needed?
Sounds simple…I think? If only the “big dog” on the block can offer the above information then how in the heck can any reasonable person make suggestions of any other product or manufacturer? If a tree falls in the woods, but there is no one around to hear it…does it really make a noise? Silly, I know. In any event, I look forward to any positive replies. Good day folks!

I would like to make it clear to others reading this that the misconduct by Power Plate is not “alleged”.
Our legal system here in N.Z. allowed me to place all proof in front of their lawyers when an injunction was attempted.
They conceded ALL points.
They settled and stopped proceedings and the damages they were claiming were denied. That is why they can not take me to court over my statements , they have been proven to be true.
The exact same process is happening in the U.K. right now with another ex-Power Plate salesperson.
I should probably add that an offer was made by me , if Power Plate made a public statement in regards to their past behaviour and recalled product not operating to spec , I would allow them to move forward and leave these issues in the past.
Even though the CEO admited to me it was all true , she could not apologise due to fear of other Power Plate officials reactions.
The offer still stands to anyone in Power Plate who has the foresight to know how to create “goodwill” out of a bad situation.

April 23rd, 2008I have been advised by Powerplate in the UK that if I exercise for 6 sessions I will drop a dress size. Is this the case? If so how does this work?. Also a friend had a free trial and after she could hardly walk, she said her legs felt like jelly, would you expect to feel like this after one session?
Yes , you can drop a dress size quickly doing Vibration Training. Putting an exact number of sessions on it though is slightly dishonest marketing.
I have seen 3 sizes dropped in a few weeks on some woman and then none on others for a month.
Your friends legs were fatigued ( hence the wobble ) and yes that is normal. She will get used to it very quickly though.
Simplefit…
Your decision to remove Power Plate from your website shows great moral character and this will not be forgotton by myself or others involved in the real industry.
You are now involved with a group of people who are going to make a difference to peoples lives.
Lloyd,
I do take seriously our efforts and “partners”. This is a relatively new technology…at least here in America. Our goal is to share information and advice in growing fitness technologies and exercise modalities in fitness training. It seems we are having a difficult time contacting each other directly by phone due to the time difference. Please email me to schedule a phone call, we are in the CST zone. Knowledge is knowledge…applied knowledge is power. We do have the power to drive appropriate training modalities to folks in need of real solutions.
I have personally talked with several manufacturers of “WBV” equipment. I have spoken at length with Hypergravity, FitVibe, and Power Plate. I understand the complications with allowing EVERY manufacturer to take part in our efforts…however, in order to stay objective we must listen and allow ALL wbv manufacturers offer their products and service for review. Others have yet to take our involvement seriously. We will be creating content and testing these units at our expense and free of charge to the manufacturers. Two manufacturers have been very forthright and welcome our involvement and support. One of these manufacturers has offered a “demo” and access to education. We will test these units and report our experiences on our website and in our regional media venues. Our efforts extend far beyond our website…we share our opinion in our personal touch - “bricks and mortar” – locations and our direct mail, email, and article distribution and publication channels.
Again, we DO NOT have relationships with manufacturers built on revenue sharing or profit motives. Our efforts are at our expense and completely objective. We do, however, depend on the manufacturers to supply information, education, and equipment. Those whom have not replied to our requests are considered of little use to us or the general population. We will be supporting manufacturers whom are progressive with education, support, and service efforts.
I do look forward to speaking with your directly and hope to offer your advice in our efforts as well.
Best regards,
Derek Curtice

April 27th, 2008Simplefit, I am an end user of wbv machines who has taken a big interest in knowing about the industry - i.e not a typical end user.
My question now is: what knowledge and experience do you hold to be able to offer testing of wbv machines? I need to be able to trust the credentials (they don’t have to be qualifications but rather, experience)of those who will put out papers or a list of good/bad machines for specific purposes of use. Thanks
It’s good news (for me as an end user) that you have considered the info about Power-Plate and extended /changed your relationships to other manufacturers.
Di Heap,
Thank you for asking. I am qualified by nearly eighteen years in my business helping folks understand exercise and the limitations to which one might find greater success without harm. I am qualified as a servant to our clients for without whom we would be insignificant. I can say that we have genuinely, responsibly, helped thousands of people find themselves living healthier, happier, lives. Today, our clients and consumers in general are savvy…smart shoppers…folks know the difference between “being sold” and being serviced with candor. Because we believe in finding solutions to problems we always start with a question. My point is…we ask the questions that lead us in the right directions – we assume nothing.
As in most experiments we find ourselves following the protocol which best serves our clients. We will assess and test each piece of equipment, first following the manufacturers instruction, and experiment with modalities based on the purest safety and limitations of each of our subjects. Additionally, I am qualified by the company I keep…if I don’t know the answer to a question, I simply find those who do. I can assure you that all precautions, within the best of our ability, will be considered before we subject clients to our tests. Please know that I will not jeopardize eighteen years of client service and the respect of thousands of weekly visitors to our website. Additionally, I would not put our name on the hundreds of articles which follow our efforts if I simply did not feel we were, and are, doing our very best to inform consumers and well represent our partners without undue bias. That said…everyday is a new day…we learn as we go.
We will be looking to folks in the WBV community to offer their suggestions. Our trainers are well groomed and trained in exercise prescription. Remember, every exercise is an experiment…even when controlled, exercise is always an experiment.
Also, I have not eliminated ANY manufacturer from contributing to our research and ultimately to our efforts. We remain completely open and objective. We will learn as we go. That my friend is what “testing” is all about.

Loyd:
I’m looking for a home vibration machine for a couple of reasons: for general fitness but also for my 6 year old son. He used a commercial Power Plate machine for sensory integration therapy and it seemed to show some benefits. I’m not in a position to spend $14k on a home machine and was wondering which machine you might recommend for home use. I was looking at the PowerPlate MY3 machine or the K1 machine. Is there another you might suggest or do you have a preference? Again, the whole family can benefit, but the really reason for this purchase is to continue Sensory Integration therapy for my son at home. Thanks so much for your comments!
