Trying Out the Galileo
Jason writes:
Yesterday I tried Galileo and i would like to share my experience.
First of all I felt my muscles hot after 4 secs of the starting of the session. I felt this feeling after 20-25 secs when I did a session with powerplate and fitvibe.
The Galileo was metallic and not plastic.
I trained my abs very well and it was the least noisy vibration machine I have ever used.
Until now i have used the Powerplate Next Generation, the Fitvibe excel pro and the Galileo Fitness and until now the Galileo was far more better the the other models.
Questions
- The salesman of Galileo told me that Galileo doesn’t have hand straps to train the upper body as powerplate and fitvibe . He also told me that the straps of powerplate and fitvibe are useless. What is your opinion about this ?
- The salesman of Galileo also told me than none of the WBV machines can not make hypertrophy to abs and to the rest of the upper body area. What is your opinion about this and what a WBV machine can do to the upper body.
- Which is better machine for training Galileo or Pro-Elixe?

January 22nd, 2007Lloyd, what do you refer to as “Pivotal” vs. “Lineal?”
My understanding is that the teeter-totter motion is far more preferred than axial as per the Gallileo platform vibrating the frontal plate allows the vibration to be challenging to the glut medius and quadratus lumborum, the very muscles that stabilize the pelvis in gait. Axial machines such as Nemes have some solid research, but they must be used at higher frequencies for most people to tolerate use. And now at the higher frequencies we lose the 20-28 Hz range that Bosco showed to yield the highest EMG result from WBV.Your thoughts?
The higher EMG reading can be manipulated by more than just speed.
But remember these guys where only working with Newtons law. So anything they did was going to be limited. It is true that approx. 27Hz yielded the best EMG reading on their platform. But that setting also causes massive resonance in the Lumbar on any “Lineal” unit.
Vibration Training machine design and matching programs should take into account ALL factors. With safety always coming first.
eg… No use having great vertical jump height if your lumbar is gone.
Simply put.
Pivitol 0Hz - 30Hz safe.
Lineal 38hz - 50hz safe.
I would not recommend anything out of these zones without supervision.

you heard we are the same person ? In that case I think our posts should be made into a movie. If ” Sybil ” can win awards , we are a shoe in for an Oscar.

March 5th, 2007Hi Lloyd,
Thank you for all the research and great information. Is there an article that summarizes your views on the various equipment out there? There are so many emails etc to sort through.
My interest is in osteoporosis - Some time ago the powerplate folks sent me DEXA studies that did indicate increased bone density but they were also taking bisphosphonates. I am interested in studies that do not include drugs with proper equipment over a one year period.
I teach seminars on menopause including osteoporosis. I am interested personally in a machine to increase bone mass and muscle strength for two women in good health and good physical shape. The osteoporosis is up to -3 standard deviations. Not severe.
Any studies in motion that you are aware of with osteoporosis in such women?
Thanks so much - one of the women I mention is myself.
Warm regards,
Lani
The main problem with studies done in the past is the inconsistant quality of the units used. As alot of companies swap suppliers , manufacturers , country of origin etc..
And as you would know for a medical study to be valid , not even a single bolt can be changed. Before , after or during the program.
So what I have done is this..
(a) Sponsorship ( free access to studio network ) of individuals with a range of different medical conditions .
(b) A doctors or specialists report is required at the start of any sponsorship program.
(c) They train on the same unit evey visit.
(d) Check-ups/scans done every 6 months.
Yes some have different stages/types of Osteoporosis. With alot on no medication. But I will not release any findings until I know what type is best treated by what means , with safety being paramount.
Having said that , I will stake my reputation on hormone induced Osteoporosis being the most drug free treatable form in combination with Vibration Training.
The combination of Bone Shock/Stimulation and Anaerobic workout delivered by a quality device would by design cover the most bases you could ask for in a natural drug free program.

March 10th, 2007I would be interested in being part of a study. I have access to top world experts in the field of osteoporosis. I used to have a center myself in the mid-nineties. I also have access to a lab in Northern California that is involved in multiple studies.
Any interest? If you or some company you know has interest I would put in motion talking with other interested parties.
Also, is there a unit I could purchase for myself that would have the correct frequency to increase bone mass?
I just gave a talk on osteoporosis last night. So many contributing factors concerning active bone loss including; vitamin D, B-12, HCL, and more. Vitamin D and estrogen work together to not only reduce osteoclastic activity but also increase osteoblastic activity. I am opposed to the use bisphosphonates unless it is an extreme condition.
The study I have in mind would have 4 groups.
1. Combination estrogen and nutritional
considerations, plus vibration.
2. Nutrition counseling and vibration.
3. Vibration only
4. Control group neither.Perhaps it is best to answer this email at my personal email listing.

March 10th, 2007Hi Lani,
What’s your e-mail or e-mail me at nickolachi@gmail.com
I have a new form of WBV technology, and will be delighted to participate in the study.
This applies to further readers that have access to research groups - please contact me and I will work with you to ensure participation in the study
Best Regards

June 19th, 2007Hello Lloyd Shaw,
I have just purchased a professional model Hypergravity. It has 0-60 Hz. My son has cerebral palsy. My wife has been diagnosed with muscular dystrophy. We have the literature from the company. We also have a doctor who uses a Turbo Sonic for therapy. They do not have specific information for these two conditions. Do you know of any resources for routines that might help them the most?We are all benefiting from the machine and really enjoying it.
Thanks, Willy
The basic program on the link below has proven very usefull and safe for most conditions . You should be able to apply it directly to the style of machine you have purchased.

Please read the instructions carefully and follow word for word where is possable.

July 10th, 2008Hi,
I’ve been looking up all the sites of vibration machines after my parents bought a Power Step Plus at our local state fair. I believe it comes out of England. The UK site isn’t as informative as the US website. However, I don’t see any specs given.
I told my folks to use lloyd’s exercises to be safe.My mom wanted to get me a unit, but I’m more inclined to do research than just buy something.
Has anyone heard of the PowerStep Plus? Did my folks get roped in by a good sales pitch?
Thanks,
Holly Holly
The PowerStep Plus is a Chinese built unit. It wholeseales for approx. $125 U.S.
It rates as a Pivotal Vibration Therapy unit. Not designed for training.
Our main concern with these companies is the massive lack of knowledge they have. Scary stuff.

Figures. I checked the alibaba site and didn’t see a unit that looked like it, so I was hoping it wasn’t from China.I did google the company and I haven’t been able to find a website.
Can you tell me about wattage? Is that just how much usage my electric bill is using vs. the actual need for the machine to operate at peak performance.
Thanks for your help,
Holly
Turning up the machine will draw more current , you would need to contact them directly if you want particulars on their unit.

Yes the straps on machines are essentialy useless , due to the loss of pressure. I would consider them just a good warm-up.
I have machines designed for muscle hypertrophy. Upper and lower body. But they must be built to an exact equation, and it is not cheap.
And i would choose Galileo .
But a word of advice, if any salesman tries to tell you Pivotal is better than Lineal or vice-versa walk away. If they lack the knowledge to understand why they shouldnt do this, they have no business selling you a machine.
