What is the Vibra-Phlex?
Nixi asks:
Have been doing vibration training for the last two months and happy with the concept and results and trust the centre I am using the staff are well trained, I am however shelling out money hand over fist for this service and want an opinion on a new machine as seen on the net being sold in NZ - company are based in Mt Maunganui and call the machine Vibra Phlex.
I am aware of the Vibra-Phlex. I have spoke to Nathan, who sells them, and they are Pivitol/Domestic machines. Not Lineal/Proff. as you would be using at a studio.
Good starter machine, but you would be too advanced for that now.
I only used 40hz or 50hz when we had the Vibro-Gyms. Because it only created EMG pressure at those settings. A bit of a compromise.
Also under those settings caused to much movement in the lumbar.
But now with our own units, we are a lot more precise, so taking it up high is only for massage. And we only needed the sandbags again because pressure was lacking in the Vibro-Gyms. So extra mass was required.

March 12th, 2007Good Morning, just a quick query I was going to a gym in West auckland, using your machines but the Gym closed so I bought a vibra phlex.
I find I get a head ache from using it that can last three days, is this just dehydration?
I am doing everything on 50, same excersizes as at the gym and I am trying to work out what the auto fat indicator means? do you have any information on this as I got my machine from a person going overseas and they did not have the instruction booklet , i would hate to be doing it all wrong as I had a delay while i saved for this machine after the west auckland gym closed. The West Auckland gym you speak of was a ”
Vibra-Gym ” , that carried the Vibro-Gym machine. They where not part of our chain. Unfortunatly they where led astray by a dodgy salesman , and as a result 3 studios have shut up shop.To your present problem though. I will need to examine the machine before giving advice. Call me at the head studio in town to arrange this. No charge.
If the Vibra-Phlex you have is a Pivotal home unit ( which I suspect ). You will need instruction. As it is not a comparable unit to the Lineal - Vibro-Gym you have used before.

March 14th, 2007I saved up and purchased a Vibra Phlex(Pivotal) from Trademe as i needed something close to home and when the west auckland gym closed i was at a loss, I had no idea there was a difference beteen the lineal models and the pivotal model, was applying the excersizes and levels that i previously used at a Vibration Gym in West Auckland , I quickly discovered that the machine I had purchased was not the same and I was infact causing my self harm though my ignorance, I was having massive headaches and nausea, my balance was out and there was no true instruction or correct information with the model and trying to locate a contact for the manufacturers appeared impossible. I was rapidly become disheartend with the whole thing, I can only say a huge thank you to Lloyd , who after reading my query on this Blog came out free of charge in His own time (oh and I live a long way out in west auckland)and checked out the machine I had, and put me through the correct excersizes with the correct settings for that type of machine, he gave me a full explanation of what was happening and why and ensured I had the correct knowledge for safely and effectively carrying on with my machine. Lloyd did point out however that the machine is inferior to what i was used to and to what he has available at his premisis and that If i continued in my program I would end up platoing and need to locate something to step up to to progress further. thats if the machine doesnt break down first.
I can only urge anyone that is thinking of purchasing a home Vibration machine to search the internet , read and or contact Lloyd Shaw, ask questions first or you will truely regret your purchase.
Once again Lloyd thank you for coming to my rescue you are a knight in shining armour) your passion for Vibration training and your life long goal to beat obesity is one in which you should be proud of.Kate

Great to see Lloyd was able to help you from a potentially bad situation
Tell me, was the machine you bought from Trade Me sold to you by a company/importer or from someone selling it second hand?
Wayne
Kate….
sorry on behalf of my industry you had to go through that. I understand you saved up for some time for that unit.I hope it lasts you long enough to justify the cost.
All I can say is the people responsable will be paying their dues. They have effected lives in a negative way , deliberatly , just for financial gain.
Not cricket.

March 15th, 2007Hi Wayne, It was new. I am very thankful that I found this site when searching for answers and Lloyd came to my rescue.
I had saved up for my machine for quite some time, for many people i guess they are a cheap alternative and that little voice in my head mocks me with….the old saying you get what you pay for, but for some of us they are still an expensive item not just pocket change.
Oh well, onward and upward, Live and learn etc. good luck to all that use Vibration machines I truely believe in this type of assistance and have experienced its benefits do not get put off by my almost disaster learn by it, either use a proper Vibration training establishment or get guidance from one when purchasing and save a little longer, it will be worth it.

Hi, looking at buying machine for home use and wondered if the Mediflex BodyPulse is worth considering?
Body-Pulse is a good Therapy unit but not designed for a good workout.
would the Elite VIB558 $2,995 from Elite Fitness be a better option? 162w motor
50 - 60Hz vibration rangeCarol…..
Again Sorry…I would not recommend anyone purchase such a model unless for Therapy. In my opinion they are not good quality and are very overpriced for a plastic unit. But the best way to gauge is to try before you buy. Try a session at a prof. studio , then try the unit in question. And trust your instincts.
It is amazing how some good old fashioned tyre kicking will guide you in the right direction with these products. Look for the same vulues you would look for in a car ( no im not joking ).
If you are in an isolated location try to get someone you trust in Auckland to do this for you.

April 12th, 2007Hi Carol
Mediflex BodyPulse…Are you refering to one on the TM auction site? I don’t know anything about that model but if that’s the one you are looking at, the seller doesn’t seem to know much either, quoting frequencies of 50hz and then saying the booklet shows lower frequencies of 28,22 and 15..These ratings seem far apart. It says seller going overseas, so you are taking a big risk but I guess that’s the way it is with auctions.
This site doesn’t show where people live but If you are looking at that auction, then maybe you are in Auckland, so I suggest you go to a quality vibration studio (Vibra-Train is my prefered one) and see if that works for you. The people there will talk with you about Vibration training and what you want to achieve. They don’t sell home machines so there’s no pressure to buy.

April 12th, 2007Carol - it sounds like marketers selling machines they know nothing about. Saying they are going overseas looks like a sales pitch. Tread carefully.
Also I own studios however I think it is important to note: Di’s advise is sound - positioning and angles are crucial to get the full benefit of this method training and especially for safety.
Hi, thanks for all your comments. I will be treading very carefully - I cannot find a reliable machine on the market for someone who wants to train at home. Maybe you can tell me what/where to look. Much appreciated.
Have you heard of the V-Robic vibra trainer? Apparently made and designed in NZ.
If so what is your opinion on this machine for fitness and toning.
Thanks
CarolBasically a replica PowerPlate , but hopefully alot more reliable.

I’m afraid you are going over my head with EMG pressure! What is that?
