Power Plate Experiences

I am currently using this system and have been for the last 5 months. I can tell you that it is not as simple as “just standing on a vibrating machine” any more than weight training is about “holding onto some heavy things”. You do have to put in the effort, like any exercise the effort you put in determines the results, it is far from a miracle treatment and is certainly not a scam.
I have found that for the time involved (15-30 mins 3 times a week) it is far more effective than doing free weights. I have built up my muscle strength, toned up and lost about 12 kilos since I started using Power Plate - I recommend it to anyone and everyone!!
Sandra writes:
I only have good things to say about the Power Plate. Am taking a 10 session course twice a week. I used the Power Plate (vibro gym) four times (30 secs at 30mz for ten minutes of training). Measured myself before sessions since I didn’t believe all the talk about it either. After four times (two weeks) I lost two inches in my bust, 3 1/2 inches in my waist, 1 inch in my hips and 2 inches off both thighs. The machine is absolutely wonderful.
The best thing is that you feel so great afterwards. You get a rush that makes you feel full or energy for days. Have bad knees and shoulders and this machine makes working out so great. You get a fantastic workout and don’t hurt your joints. You are a little sore after the workout and you know you have used muscles that you haven’t used in a while.
Jim writes:
First of all the cost for a Power-Plate is rather high, $9250 US, and there are numerous cheaper copies out there. The operative word is CHEAPER, in all aspects of the term. The research touted by other units is based (and copied) on research done by Power-Plate.
You have read the successes posted by satisfied users. Believe it! My wife has used the Power-Plate for 3 months and has reduced cellulite, basically eliminated varicose veins and toned-up to boot.

October 18th, 2007Hey Di remember the saying steel is real
The Notice for PowerPlate N.Z. Ltds liquidation has appaired in the N.Z. Herald on 25th October 2007.
I the Plantiff Lloyd Shaw will complete this action on the 12th November in the High Court .
This kind of action in and out of court will continue until PowerPlate has either…
(a) Apologised for its past behaviour and negotiates a settlement for those effected by it unethical practices.
(b) Is dismantled globally.
I will do what it takes to give our industry an example of how not to act and what not to do.

October 28th, 2007Hi All
I have been quiet for a while out of respect for the mourning period for New Zealanders regarding the recent demise of their rugby team. At least they are in credit with their carbon footprint….. they gave the Aussies a lift home. ok ok so I’m not that funny either but as Lloyd says “I’m not a comedian I’m a mortician”
I assume I am allowed a modicum of pride without gloating to be displayed here? Imagine if our boys also did wbv training, we would just have to turn up to win
It’s unbelievable what winning the world cup again has done for our country uniting all colours and creeds in a common unity and euphoria. We needed it now but your time will come in 4 years time in Kiwiland if you don’t get hit with any more forward passes.
Damn, wish I had seen Nick’s post earlier regarding England turning over the 36 zip result. could have been money for jam:-)
We are really enjoying the training on the HG and quite unbelievably still look forward to training on it as opposed to dragging oneself to the gym. Lloyd are you absolutely certain sure unequivocally and without doubt etc that we cannot train everyday? If not can we do foot massage every day or more than once a day?
Mike, greetings to you, Alice has been in e-mail contact with me and looks like she has decided on the bodyshaker pro.
Regards to you all from SA and the continuing success of Wbv.

October 28th, 2007Okay, okay… Congratulations Keith.
Actually I picked SA to win right from the beginning but I shouldn’t admit that on here or I risk being deported.
I’ve read that you might be looking for a new coach. We can offer you a Kiwi one
Concerning WBV and sports teams. It’s all legal, couldn’t be banned so If Lloyd gets hold of the next AllBlack team… Watch out World!
- Keith
October 28th, 2007Whoops, careful Di, your slip is showing …… and yes we might be looking for a new coach our 30 seater team bus is a bit on the small side ……….. and Mike … tch tch tch …. try and black is not synonymous, I think that was the problem looking back ……. :-). In closing, what do you call an Englishman holding the world cup? An Engraver!
I’m sorry guys this whole post was out of line I promise to behave with decorum on this forum in future.Congrats lloyd on your ongoing battle with the shysters and charlatans in this industry. I spread the word here where I can. This fight will be won inch by wbv inch.
Kevin Barclay Webb , a man who also worked for, then stood against, PowerPlate in the U.K. has been targeted in a law suit , over the advice given out to some gyms about Powerplates dodgy dealings.
To help this guy out I would ask anyone who has tested the PowerPlate and found it failing its advertised specs to please contact me ASAP.
Even breakdown rates would help.
Thank you.

November 11th, 2007Good luck Lloyd. Tomorrow is Novewmber 12!!!
Good luck was not needed……
After PowerPlate N.Z. was liquidated on 12th Nov. 2007 by myself , Powerplate Int. tried to step into their shoes.
They now have a saleperson running around telling people there are 34 PowerPlate studios in N.Z.
Two points about this..
(a) 1 machine in the back of a hair dressers is not a “studio”.
(b) Dont they realize how easy it is to check up on this ?
They just lost a potential sale due to a person not liked being lied to.

January 31st, 2008Hey Lloyd
Just found this site and was reading up on your dealings with PP. I am a gym owner that is contemplating on buying one of their machines, but did not get a good feeling from the Director of sales the other day. He had promised to send a demo out for us to try and after not hearing from him for a while I tried to call his cell. After a while I decided to call the main line to check the status of the delivery. Shipping said they had never received any order from him. so, I told him that I have trying to reach this guy for over a week and he told me to hold on and that he would try to reach him while I stayed on the other line. Within 3 minutes, he came back on and said go ahead and call his cell now. I did, but again got his VM. He finally called me back about 1/2 hour later and started screaming at me for getting him in trouble with the main office. Since I really wanted to have him send me a plate, I apologized to him three times before he finally calmed down. I asked him where the plate was and he replied that it was tied up in customs in California and did not know when they would be released.
So, now I am still waiting to hear back from, but am doubtful if he was truly telling the truth. Can you fill me, from your point of view, what is going on with the company and whether or not they are trustworthy. Integrity is very big for me and I noticed that there is another US based company called Hypergravity that sells something similiar…..do you know anything about them?
Thanks for your time!
Integrity and PowerPlate mix like water and oil. Worst reputation in the industry to date .
Read this if you are interested.
http://www.vibra-train.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=4
So I have no time for them and their kind.
But on to more positive things, 3 companies spring to mind.
HyperGravity ( good units , good rep )
Fit-Vibe ( good rep ) But some of their salespeople also push cheaper models , so just be firm.
Globus ( yet to make a rep , but looks promising )
Here your chance sales guys to shine where PowerPlate fades.

February 1st, 2008Thanks for the additional info. I found a slightly used PP for sale (that I am about to go check out this morning) that was made in 2003…is that the version that you would recommend? Supposedly, it only has a few hours use on it as the owner is elderly and unable to use it because of a medical condition. They say they bought it for $10K.
Let me know your thoughts?
Thanks again.
If its the older steel version , grab it. Great unit.

February 23rd, 2008I saw a DVD which demonstrated golf specific exercises with the powerplate. I happen to own an IRONMAN unit (from COSTCO) ….but looking for the golf DVD. Can anyone help.
I would be wary of these poses. When I was at Powerplate they talked about the “image” they wanted to project above and beyond the usefullness/safety of the poses in thier advertising.
A basic workout would increase your overall flexability , control etc… without the risks.
Jonnie,
If you have gone throught this blog, you may know there are two generation of Power Plate. The old generation was invented and made by Dutch and now being renamed as VIBROGYM. The existing Power Plate is a U.S. company but the machines are made in China with cheap Asian components.
To identify if the machine is old Dutch version or China-made one, you can look at its manufacturing label. Or you can simply tell by its look. If it has a rectangular platform, it is the old Dutch version, then a low usage old machine can still be trusted. If its platform is round, this Power Plate is the existing China-made version, don’t even think of it.
TC
PowerPlate just had a conference in the U.S. where plans for the release of a more commercial/sports type machine was talked about.
This brings up a few questions…
(1) Are they now admitting the machines released to date are not true commercial devices . So an upgrade will now be needed to compete in the market.
(2) I wonder who they ” borrowed ” the design from ?
(3) What does it feel like to claim to be a market leader , but now just a follower.
The problem with claiming to have lots of experts working for you , is when you revert to following others , it makes you wonder why they just dont buy a scanner/copier and fire everone else.
Power Plate on their way to the Federal Court in Chicago ?

Work will continue to bring Power Plates dishonesty under control.

March 8th, 2008Great news Lloyd…
One dodgy company thinking they are bigger than the law.Only those with passion will survive !
Yes Mike , they now have an innovative , aggressive law firm after them ( going for a portion of the $33 U.S million damages ) that will no doubt be willing to use Powerplates past unethical behaviour to highlight their own case.
Dark days ahead for Power Plate.
The last of the original PowerPlate labeled studios in N.Z. has closed its doors. The public face of this threat to our industry has been wiped out.
Just to remind everybody that this is what we fight against….
1) Engineering tests / not from machine supplied to consumer.
(2) University tests / not from machine supplied to consumer.
(3) Medical endorsements / not from machine supplied to consumer.
(4) Awards carried forward / not from machine supplied to consumer.
(5) Misuse of top academics names.
(6) Misuse of disabled peoples endorsements.
(7) Country of manufacturor changed for promotion reasons .PowerPlate Int. will still try to promote its product along with its lack of ethics , and we will encourage people to stand up to them at every turn.
Complaints/Concerns about Power Plate still trying to sell units in N.Z. should be made to this address…
The reason I am about to pour lots of time and effort into the situation with Fitness N.Z…….
The only way we can enter the U.S. with our heads held high , is to clean up our own back yard first.
Fitness N.Z. update….
Nathan Burrows of Fitness N.Z. has replied via e-mail to me making the comment that multiple complaints have been made. So thankyou to those who acted.
But you have all been accused of being my ” business associates ” so your concerns dont count. In effect calling you all unethical.
I will be putting up a list of e-mail addresses needed to futher the complaints process.
Could everyone who has laid a formal complaint to Fitness N.Z. put their details on here , so others can see that they have no business connections with me .
And please say if you recieved a reply.
- Mike Hair
March 19th, 2008No reply received.
As an independent studio owner I don’t see how they could accuse me of being unethical.
I own 2 studios that were set up b4 I even knew of Lloyd so I fail too see where we are business associates. ” If you believe a Preferred Supplier has broken the Code of Ethics and therefore wish to make a complaint , simply give the Fitness NZ office a call or email us with the details and we shall take immediate actions to help rectify a problem. Preferred Suppliers that blatantly breach the Code of Ethics can be removed from the programme”
- Di
March 19th, 2008I have sent an email to Fitness NZ tonight as I feel very strongly that Power-Plate NZ Ltd (2007) should not be on their list of Preferred Suppliers.
I am an end user/customer of Vibration Training. Not a business partner nor employed by Lloyd. Have looked at setting up my own Studio but not done so yet and looked at several brands of machines, various studios that were for-sale and investigated and learnt lots about the industry. Lloyd has helped me with lots of general knowledge (like what’s available on this site) and I’ve also done lots of other research.
At present working in another area of the fitness/health industry.
- Wayne Campbell
March 19th, 2008Re NZ Fitness endorsement of Power Plates - Whether or not the complaints are made by associates of Lloyd Shaw is irrelevant and a smokescreen for not dealing with the issues
Considering NZ Fitness saw fit to send me (Vibra-Train Albany) their brochures and information for joining and were willing to accept my annual fees they should respond to ligitimate concerns and complaints.
Part of Fitness NZ’s strategy is as follows
Our Strategic Intent:
For FitnessNZ to be the recognised source of
expertise, information and standard setting in the fitness industryIf endorsing PowerPlate is the sort of standards that they are setting then most people who know of Power Plates history and current practices can judge the sort of standards Fitness NZ aspire to
I will be complaining to Fitness New Zealand, and I will be informing my contacts in the fitness industry of this situation.NZ Fitness has a responsibilty to know the companies and products they are endorsing
This will be a hard fight , as one of their board members has used VibraTrain , Vibro-Gym and the Power Plate name in the past to sell small plastic home machines. Another used his position as CEO to promote this board members business interests.
Anyone say “conflict of interest”
These complaints were also ignored but will now be used to highlight my concerns regarding their non-profit status .
Here are 2 addresses that complaints should be forwarded to if you do not get a satisfactory reply from Fitness N.Z.

March 19th, 2008Hi,
I need help on some medical problems a few of my patients have to find out if WVB will be harmful to them. I hope to get them started in the next few weeks when I get my machine. When they talk about severe diabetes what are they talking about? Patient has a stent in one of his coronary arteries can he use WBV and if yes what settings would you do for them? Last one Patient had hip replacement and now has a metal rod and ball in his leg WVB ok yes/no?
Last that guy Sal that writes all the bad stuff about WVB. 2 things for him to answer 1 if WVB was ajoke why are so many studies being done on WVB? 2 Why is the program at Cleveland State College called STEEP for MS people have WVB as part of their treatment. Ok one last thing if anybody that would like to see a hypergravity olympic that live in Washington state or Oregon they can come down to my clinic and check it out. Just e-mail me to set-up a time.
Could anyone who has had a problem with getting their Power Plate fixed please e-mail me on lloyd@vibra-train.co.nz
Even if you are not in N.Z.
This is my letter to the Commerce Commission , the case has been given the number #224 937….
To whom it may concern,
this is in regards to complaint #224 937.Fitness N.Z. advertised in a booklet sent to my business a number of products and services including a complaints process should I have any concerns.
This process has not been upheld and direct requests of an interview or chance to show proof of my concerns regarding sub-standard equipment ( Power Plate ) they tried to sell me in their booklet have been denied.
This I believe is clearly false advertising in an attempt to gain consumer trust offering a service they do not complete.
Kind regards Lloyd Shaw

April 18th, 2008I have just purchased a crazy fit therapy plate, which is more of the side to side action. Does anyone know if this is as effective as the power plate technology?
How many articles on this site have your read on that topic ?
I would be happy to clarify any points you dont understand.
- Mike Hair
April 19th, 2008I Don’t mean to sound rude Lloyd but if people weren’t so lazy they would have read about the pit falls of buying inferior products, and therefore would not be asking questions that have been answered many times over.
There is no excuse with the internet so readily available.

The YouTube/FitVibe video is for real. It’s also on their website although I think it ends a little earlier than the YouTube version. I’d maybe buy a machine of they supply a coach like that along with it.
