Power Plate Experiences

I am currently using this system and have been for the last 5 months. I can tell you that it is not as simple as “just standing on a vibrating machine” any more than weight training is about “holding onto some heavy things”. You do have to put in the effort, like any exercise the effort you put in determines the results, it is far from a miracle treatment and is certainly not a scam.
I have found that for the time involved (15-30 mins 3 times a week) it is far more effective than doing free weights. I have built up my muscle strength, toned up and lost about 12 kilos since I started using Power Plate - I recommend it to anyone and everyone!!
Sandra writes:
I only have good things to say about the Power Plate. Am taking a 10 session course twice a week. I used the Power Plate (vibro gym) four times (30 secs at 30mz for ten minutes of training). Measured myself before sessions since I didn’t believe all the talk about it either. After four times (two weeks) I lost two inches in my bust, 3 1/2 inches in my waist, 1 inch in my hips and 2 inches off both thighs. The machine is absolutely wonderful.
The best thing is that you feel so great afterwards. You get a rush that makes you feel full or energy for days. Have bad knees and shoulders and this machine makes working out so great. You get a fantastic workout and don’t hurt your joints. You are a little sore after the workout and you know you have used muscles that you haven’t used in a while.
Jim writes:
First of all the cost for a Power-Plate is rather high, $9250 US, and there are numerous cheaper copies out there. The operative word is CHEAPER, in all aspects of the term. The research touted by other units is based (and copied) on research done by Power-Plate.
You have read the successes posted by satisfied users. Believe it! My wife has used the Power-Plate for 3 months and has reduced cellulite, basically eliminated varicose veins and toned-up to boot.

Jason & Kris,
FITVIBE comes with two series of lineal vibration plates. The Medical line with rectangular shape platform, it is steel. The latest sereis - EXCEL, the large oval shape platform is not.
I cannot speak for GymnaUniphy (the manufacturer) why they have decided to use a different material for EXCEl series. However, this EXCEl series just came out less than two years. In my opinion, they were well aware of the problem of Power Plate’s plastic platform when they started to design EXCEL, therefore they must have taken measure of this factor.
Let me share my experience with the two different FITVIBE models since I have installed both in my studio.
1. You will subjectively feel the vibration FITVIBE MEDICAL steel platform more intensive than FITVIBE EXCEL platform. However, besides the factor of different material could be the reason, the smaller size MEDICAL platform may also be a reason due to a higher power density.
2. Eventhough the FTIVIBE EXCEL seems less intensive than FITVIBE MEDICAL, a normal person can hardly bear its vibration at high frequency and high amplitude. It is therefore, in my opinion, EXCEL is already powerful enough for most people for effective muscle strengthening.

February 26th, 2007Thanks TC.
When you speak of a “normal person” with regard to the EXCEL version, do you know the maximum load under pressure that it takes before lessening its power compared to the MEDICAL? Also do you know the sizes of the two different platforms? Also (again), how ’bout the program cards that come with this - are they really reliable to follow for individual training? And agin, thanks.

February 26th, 2007Lloyd,
The Vibmax is also a composite unit (as the PP and Fitvibe) How come you find it suitable for both therapy and training? Have you really tried this machine and the others of the units at your list?

February 26th, 2007Stan and Mary Durst,
Did you purchase the Hypergravity Olympic or Elite Pro? And …. how hard is it to move around and through doorways? Did you have to take it up or down a flight of stairs? It would just be helpful to know … about these larger home versions. Thanks for your info
No but the Vibratory kenetic force created from both units surpass Therapy.
I have a friend in the industry in Europe who tests models for us. But only the ones not released over here.
Kris,
FITVIBE has static loading capacity of 250 kg. Its oscillators are really powerful. Sometimes when we give demonstration, we would put two persons together on a plate just to show FITVIBE’s loading capacity.
The dimensions of platforms of FITVIBE MEDICAL and EXCEL are 800×600mm (rectangular shape) and 1050×990mm (oval shape) respectively.
If you are homeuser, you do not need the “program card system”. This system at optional price is designed for institutional or commercial studio use. The System includes a computer software for writing training program, a card writer and SIM cards. This System allows operator to charge either by work minutes or period of time like 52 weeks.
FITVIBE EXCEL PRO is already installed with training program called “Personal Coach”. Depending on the specific body part you decide to train, the built-in program will provide you a training course. Each suggested training position is illustrated on the LCD display and text description is provided to help exerciser to place proper position.

Is there anyone who has actual experience with POWER PLATE latest model, SWISS AIR? Their model “NEXT GENERATION” is for sure a China-made device. What about this “SWISS AIR”?
TC
Hello FR,
There have been a number of comments after your post on July 6, 2oo6 but it seems no one answered you yet. I have been reading this thread many times but I also overlooked your post and your question, sorry about that and hope you are still around.
Number One rule in Vibration Training is NEVER FULL EXTEND YOUR LEGS while standing on the platform; otherwise you would get too much vibration transmitted to your head.
Although Power Plate is not one of the best vibration plates, I think they are not that non-sense to tell exerciser to stand on the platform with full extended legs. You probably misunderstand their instruction.
It also explains why an inexperienced person should go to a studio to receive a proper training by qualified vibration training instructor before buying a device home. You need good knowledge to manipulate this training method, it is not as simple as you see it as a vibration platform.

TC…..
I have not had any reports yet , but from my understanding the new Power-Plate Air was not meant to vary from the Asian design in any way except for its isolation system. They had been having problems with the creation of resonance when operating more than one unit at a time in certain structures. Hence limiting sales.
When they heard that Wavexercise had solved the problem they copied it.Press release in Holland….
Important Notice…..
I will no longer be mentioning specific brands if asked about ” Good or Bad machines .Reason…..
I now have a folder of 118 different models. With a new one being released each week. Also some companies are deliberatly changing names every couple of months to counter the effects of “negative branding”.Also some brands are making deals with sub-standard manufacturors and marketers. So even a good unit could become bad overnight.
I believe it is in the publics best interests to now only concentrate on questions and comments regarding
(a) Quality ( what to look for )
(b) Safety
(c) Ethics
(d) New Developments
(e) TheoryYesterday I won a judgement by the Ministry of Justice against Power-Plate by a District Court Judge.
The ruling was to help me clarify I was indeed Power-Plates Product Manager ( 2003-2004 ).
Power-Plate had recently tried to defend itself from my exposure of their unethical behaviour by claiming I never worked for them.
That was found untruthfull by the courts.

March 29th, 2007More power to your cause Lloyd! Cheers!
Darius The good that can come from this , is people around the world who have a legal case against Power-Plate can now call on me as an expert witness.
And I will testify .
I already have one case pending , that would have been hard for the couple involved to prove their case without help.
- Wayne Campbell
March 29th, 2007Lloyd, well done!! you have taken on a big coporate who uses its financial muscle to stop people like yourself exposing their unethical business practices and misleads consumers about its product.
Trying to deny that you were their product manager has now been rectified by the law of the land. No question, they lied.
Perhaps now in light of its recent success with Ribena the Commerce Commission will revisit my and others complaints to it about PowerPlates false use of celebrity endorsements and awards.
Yes, Ribena now has the equivalency of Social Leprocy.
Beaten up by two schoolgirls. And good on them for hanging in there. (Note: Original complaint laid in 2004.)
But I would like to see the names of the individuals who signed off on the deal. Their is no way upper management didnt know what was going on. And they should be forced to carry this around with this tacked onto their CV.Thats where the V.T.A. will be different. It will actually name and shame those ” individuals ” who made this happen. Photo and all.
This will not effect them straight away. But long term it will limit their deals. A public economic boycott of an individual can be crippling long term.
OUR STANCE WILL BE BASED ON THIS FACT.
“A faceless corporation cannot be unethical. Only people can.”
- Wayne Campbell
March 29th, 2007Lloyd,
I agree, individuals that hide behind coporates and thier legal teams, name and shame, Bring on the VTA! the sooner the better for the industry, including consumers and ethical operators!

March 30th, 2007Congratulations on this first step Lloyd.
This is good news. I would have thought that your bank statements or a pay slip were evidence of having worked for a company…so I guess the issue was the definiton of your role within the company.

March 30th, 2007Hi Lloyd,
I am in need of a clarification of something you explained regarding specific machines’ usage. If they haven’t changed their design and manufacturer, can the home hypergravity machine be used for both therapy and training? i am not sure if in your chart you were rating all of their models as therapy/training or just their more expensive models.
Thank You!
Jenny Yes , it can be used for basic Training and Therapy.
But keep in mind , ALL home units will be limited.

March 31st, 2007Thank You Lloyd.

But i am optimistic that i will beat this and get back on my feet. If i do i would like to utilize the machine i buy for light training. Any suggestions?
i appreciate your advice and expertise.

April 1st, 2007Hi Lloyd,
Much obliged for the above info on how to proceed. One last question i have is regarding folks with chronic fatigue symptoms. i can’t barely walk right now because of a combination of the pain/stiffness in my joints and my fatigue when i do venture out. Do you have any article links that may be applicable to my situation (not specifically lyme, but perhaps the symptoms that are manifesting, particularly the chronic fatigue which worsens with exertion)?
Thank you again!
Jenny Most of the chronic fatigue sufferers we have had in are as a result of Glandular Fever , but it has worked very well for them.
You will feel VERY tired after the first few sessions. Make sure you do not organize to do anything like work or drive straight after.
Also eat a heavy meal pre and post workout.
Hello Jenny,
We have been helping people with Osteo-arthrtic Knee with Vibration Training.
If you need, I would be happy to guide you through. However, first of all, you need a good vibration device.

April 5th, 2007Hallo
If anyone has any personal experience of Hypergravity models and especially the Elite Pro or the Olympic Pro please share .
Regards
I have just had a report Power-Plate are going to try and rebrand. If this is so , then they have to know this will not erase their past behaviour.
They will account for it.

April 23rd, 2007Hello
I am still in the “thinking” stages of investing in a professional vibrogym for commercial use, this equipment i have seen selling for around 5,250 UK pds including training and after sales support…
If anyone out there has already done this…how long have you been doing this for and have you/your customers had any major problems/complications using with this equipment? Also are there any companys selling the vybrogym you can recommend? Equally, are there any companys’ that you would not reccommend, and why?
One company have said that they train the purchaser of this equipment…can anyone tell me their personal experiences of this? how helpful was the training/after sales support?Any advise will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

May 3rd, 2007I’m new to this forum and discovered vibration technology only yesterday when my girlfriend came back totally enthused from a PowerPlate trial session.
I have two questions relating to safety of vibration technology and am grateful for any answers or hints where to find them:
1. My girlfriend (35) has been desperatingly trying to get pregnant for the last 2 years and is now following a fertility enhancement program (my sperm has been found adequate for fathering). Can vibration training (2-3 times/week) interfere with becoming pregnant or carrying the pregnancy to term?
2. I have been diagnosed with prostate cancer (Gleason 6) and am in a “watchful waiting” program. Since one of the sought-after benefits of vibration training is the break-up of adipose cells and the washing out of toxines stored in these cells, can the same happen to tumor cells, i.e. cellular break-up and dispersal of metastases in the bloodstream, thereby spreading cancer through the body? Neither my oncologist, urologist or radiologist have any answer to this question and, therefore, their advice is to abstain.
If anyone has a medical answer including references of articles relating to either of these questions, I’d really appreciate.
Tx
Eric Eric…
Your Girlfriend…..
It is safe for your girlfriend to use Vibration Training up until the point of pregnancy. But she must stop as soon as it is confirmed.
Note: There is no medical evidence suggesting Vibration Training is risky for preganant mothers or their child. Everyone is just playing it safe, as they should.
Eric…..
You can not use Vibration Training with active cancer of any type. But to be more precise for your situation I will give you the three main reasons.
(1) Increased bloodflow to the cells may fuel the cancer.
(2) Increased HGH , Test and IGF-1 may also help duplication of the cancer cells.
(3) The increase in Testosterone will eventually cause aromatization of this hormone into Estrogen. Which will inflame your prostate.
But as soon as you are cleared you can enter a program.

May 3rd, 2007ITS BEEN 3 MONTHS SINCE WE LAST POSTED AND WANT EVERYONE TO KNOW THAT WE STILL LOOK FORWARD TO AND ENJOY USING OUR HYPERGRAVITY EQUIPMENT. I NOW TURN ON OUR EQUIPMENT AND CONTINIOUSLY RUN IT FOR 20 -25 MINUTES WHILE GOING THROUGH A SERIES OF EXERCISES THAT CAME WITH THE EQUIPMENT. AND, I HAVE ADDED SEVERAL YOGA MOVEMENTS. LAST WEEK JOHN GRAY THE AUTHOR OF “MEN ARE FROM MARS AND WOMEN ARE FROM VENUS” SHOWED US SEVERAL MOVEMENTS TAKEN FROM THE NATIVE AMERICAN INDIANS.AND CHINESE CULTURES. THESE MOVEMENTS ARE DESIGNED TO INCREASE THE FLOW OF BLOOD TO THE BRAIN AND ENHANCE THE FLOW OF THE LYMPH SYSTEM. WE TRIED SOME OF THE EXERCISES ON THE HYPERGRAVITY EQUIPMENT, BECAUSE IT ALSO STIMULATES LYMPH FLOW AND CIRCULATION SO WE GOT AN EXTRA BOOST TO THE EXERCISES…MADE US FEEL GREAT…
ALSO HAD THE EXPERIENCE OF TRYING THE TURBO SONIC EQUIPMENT AND THEIR MACHINE CAN’T HOLD A CANDLE TO THE HYPERGRAVITY EQUIPMENT. IT FELT LIKE A HIGH PRICED MASSAGER.
JOSH…WE ARE BOTH VERY THANKFUL FOR YOU INTRODUCING US TO THE HYPERGRAVITY AND REALLY APPRECIATE YOU TAKING THE TIME TO ANSWER ALL OUR QUESTIONS.STAN & MARY DURST
P.S. NOT TO BRAG, BUT I WAS RECENTLY ON THE BEACH IN HAWAII AND SEVERAL PEOPLE WANTED TO KNOW WHAT I WAS DOING TO KEEP THIS 64 YR. OLD BODY IN SUCH GREAT SHAPE..HYPERGRAVITY!!! - Kris
May 4th, 2007Stan and Mary,
Could you please tell us which of the models of Hypergravity you use - the smaller home version or the Olympic Pro which can also be used at home … if you can get it through the doorways. Someone here mentioned that the smaller Hypergravity tended to “walk” and so he had to do something to prevent this. Since the smaller Hypergravity plate limits certain positions, are you finding that to be true?
Thanks

May 4th, 2007WE HAVE THE PROFESSIONAL MODEL.

May 6th, 2007LLoyd…what can we understand from results such as posted by Stan and Mary Durst and others also who report similar findings and use vibration machines on consecutive days? It is very confusing to say the least. Some light on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

May 7th, 2007I’ve had the chance to try the hypergravity unit and it is a hard-core brute(no put-down here, comparing it to Powerplate NG and once I tried the HG on the same settings it really got my ire up as to how much time I wasted training on it, Lloyd did warn me, but seeing was believing in my case.)
As far as using the machine in the way described above…can’t imagine it. It is just too much of an ass kicker to stay on 20 minutes or so. Please inform us of settings in more detail Mr. Durst. I would be worried about tweaking something that should’nt be tweaked.
Yours in WBV,
KG

FitVibe is the only composite unit on the market that fits into both the Therapy and Training brackets. That is because the Germans paid particular attention to do so.
They sat back and learned their lessons from companies like Power-Plate. And did their best to fix them.
