Power Plate Successes
Janene writes:
I am currently using this system and have been for the last 5 months. I can tell you that it is not as simple as “just standing on a vibrating machine” any more than weight training is about “holding onto some heavy things”. You do have to put in the effort, like any exercise the effort you put in determines the results, it is far from a miracle treatment and is certainly not a scam.
I have found that for the time involved (15-30 mins 3 times a week) it is far more effective than doing free weights. I have built up my muscle strength, toned up and lost about 12 kilos since I started using Power Plate - I recommend it to anyone and everyone!!
Sandra writes:
I only have good things to say about the Power Plate. Am taking a 10 session course twice a week. I used the Power Plate (vibro gym) four times (30 secs at 30mz for ten minutes of training). Measured myself before sessions since I didn’t believe all the talk about it either. After four times (two weeks) I lost two inches in my bust, 3 1/2 inches in my waist, 1 inch in my hips and 2 inches off both thighs. The machine is absolutely wonderful.
The best thing is that you feel so great afterwards. You get a rush that makes you feel full or energy for days. Have bad knees and shoulders and this machine makes working out so great. You get a fantastic workout and don’t hurt your joints. You are a little sore after the workout and you know you have used muscles that you haven’t used in a while.
Jim writes:
First of all the cost for a Power-Plate is rather high, $9250 US, and there are numerous cheaper copies out there. The operative word is CHEAPER, in all aspects of the term. The research touted by other units is based (and copied) on research done by Power-Plate.
You have read the successes posted by satisfied users. Believe it! My wife has used the Power-Plate for 3 months and has reduced cellulite, basically eliminated varicose veins and toned-up to boot.

May 26th, 2006Hi,
I have just bought a Chinese brand for a fraction of the price. 300USD. It seems to do exactly what the powerplate does (and considering power plates are made here it might be an exact copy). free delivery and installation.Real powerplate is way overpriced I find.
Now I just have to download some of the exercises as the manual is in Chinese though.
For 300USD, I simply feel I cannot have been cheated

May 29th, 2006Firstly guys , yes most models are overpriced. Power-Plate get their machines for about 800Euro off the Chinese.
Vibro-Gym is a different company and most of the machine is built in Holland. Good units but warranties not good.
And i still havnt seen a Vibration Training machine from China yet. Therapy machines yes , but they do not do the same thing. Or i would buy them for my studios. My god it would save my studios a fortune.

June 22nd, 2006Hey all,
i was just in paris for a month and disscovered the power-plate through a friend here. i began using it and find it wonderfull! the problem is, now i am leaving paris and moving back to NYC where i dont know of any gyms using the technology. does anyone know where i can use this type of machine in NYC? - FR
July 6th, 2006I really need advice ASAP. I bought the Power Plate and had it delivered today. I started the schedule recommended for beginners, which consists of a couple of strength excercises, a couple of stretches and a couple of relaxation positions.
The first few positions went fine, I really did feel it working yet without exhausting me. They were basically standing with legs bent, then further bent, then a deep squat.
However I then moved onto the stretches, which I thought a great benefit of the machine. They require the legs to be keps straight, unlike the previous excercises. Within a few seconds I felt the (very strong, even with all the mats and on the low setting) vibrations shaking not just my body but my head. And when I say my head, I don’t just mean externally but internally too - I felt like the internal part of the front of my face (the gums up through the nose) were very soft and had a feeling halfway between nausea and the start of a nosebleed.
Of course I wasn’t sick and didn’t have a nosebleed - I just felt very strange in a sinster, non-beneficial way. So much so, that I had to stop the machine after about 5 seconds. I tried a different stretch and the same thing happened.
I am now very upset - I really want to use the machine as a previous illness has left me with a lot of fat and years of a complete lack of exercise to rectify.
I should mention that I am only in my 20s and have already taken the advice of my doctor who thought the machine could be ‘worth a shot’ but that it certainly shouldn’t affect me adversely.
Has anyone else felt extreme discomfort like this? I am well aware that exercise should be uncomfortable, but stretches normally aren’t and anyway, this went so far beyone discomfort - I felt sick and intuitively suspected I was putting my body at risk.
I would really appreciate comments from those who have used a vibration machine. I’m a bit freaked out to be honest.

POWER-PLATE UPDATE….
POWSummary pleadings
Latam B.V./Power Plate International B.V. and Special Sport Amstelveen B.V.
This is an informal translation and summary of the pleadings of mr. P.J. de Groen, attorney at law in the Netherlands, in de the hearing of the district court in Haarlem, the Netherlands, in the case. Latam B.V., D.M.M. Tamminga and J. Keijzer against Special Sport Amstelveen B.V. and Power Plate International B.V
Latam B.V., Tamminga and Keijzer have placed conservatory attachments on several trademarks owned by Special Sports Amstelveen B.V./Power Plate International B.V., such as the trademark Powerplate. The attachments were placed in order to secure payment of claims for compensation. These claims are presently pending in the district court in Haarlem.
Latam has discovered in 2002 that there were several fake Powerplates being sold in South Africa. Later on it was discovered that fake Powerplates were also sold in other countries, such as the United States of America, Germany, Spain and the Netherlands. It appeared that Special Sports Amstelveen/Power Plate International were involved in the development and sale of these fake Powerplates, which seemed to be manufactured somewhere in China.
Special Sport Amstelveen/Power Plate International over the years, until the summer of 2006, have categorically denied involvement with the fake Powerplates. Latam therefore started proceedings against Special Sport Amstelveen/Power Plate International in order to have the matter decided. During witness hearings in 2006 it was finally proven that Special Sport Amstelveen/Power Plate International had willingly started a series of deliveries of fake Powerplates originating from China. It was estimated by Mr. Chr. de Groot, working for Power Plate International, that at least 300 fake Powerplates were manufactured in China and sent over the world.
Latam now claims compensation on the basis of breach of contract as well as infringement of its intellectual property rights. Pending further information to be given by Power Plate International it is assumed that there are at least 300 fake Powerplates manufactured and sold by Power Plate International. Based on a report presented by Power Plate International it can be estimated that the price for which these fake Powerplates were sold (in Germany, United States of America, etcetera) was on average € 4.500,00. It can also be assumed based on the information so far given by Power Plate International that the cost price per fake unit was approximately € 680,00. Therefore the profit made on the fake Powerplates may amount to € 1.146.000,00. It has been emphasized that it still needs to be ascertained how many fake Powerplates really have been manufactured in China. An independent expert will have to verify, possibly also in China, how many fake Powerplates have been manufactured and sold.
In addition to the above indicated profit Latam also claims compensation for its legal and other expenses made in this matter. Moreover Latam claims a reasonable compensation because of the early termination of the exclusive agreement between Latam and Powerplate. It is now clear that Power Plate International has only terminated the contract because it had an alternative manufacturer.
Pending the court decision in the above matter Power Plate International will now have to come up with a bank guarantee amounting to € 500.000,00. Moreover the lawyers of parties will have to negotiate the terms under which an independent expert will be given instructions to verify the exact number of fake Powerplates.
This informal translation and summary has been made for Latam. If and in as far as third parties would like to receive more information it is suggested that a request for information will be transmitted to undersigned after having consulted D.M.M. Tamminga of Latam.

Sassenheim, October 3, 2006Remember , Power-Plate was actively marketing their units during this period to people in wheelchairs , MS sufferers and others with obesity issues.
Not just the beauty market. People with life threatening illnesses where being targeted.
Everyone involved with Power-Plate finds this acceptable.
Vibra-Train does not.

December 26th, 2006Lloyd, sounds to me like Power Plates as are lying con artists, only inerested in money, not the well being of people and this industry. Did they, on top of what is listed above, also falsely use endorsements and awards for other machines to promote thier machines? Also from what I can gather they still are using these??
Yes. As Product Manager of Power-Plate during 2003-2004. The only answer I recieved to my internal investigation was.
“It’s just business “.” Not on my watch ” was my reply.
I understand marketers cross those lines in the sand
now and then. Most of the time it is “just business”.But Power-Plate ran over the line in the sand. And is now off swimming by the sewerage outlet.
Example of what to watch out for…
Note both studies where published in early 2004.
Both are targeted at people with disabilities.
Anyone involved with publishing studies will understand how long this process takes. And that does not include the time taken to complete the studies themselves.
The machine pictured in both studies was not manufactured untill 2004.
Where is the disclaimer mentioning the model used in the studies is no longer available to Power-Plate ? And the machine pictuered was not used ?

January 16th, 2007I received my Hypergravity Home Unit last week and am more than pleased with the quality and performance. I have moderate osteoporosis and it has affected my spine, causing ongoing back pain. I have only used the Hypergravity a few times and already notice a huge difference in my back flexibility and range of motion…that in itself has changed my quality of life, not to mention all the other benefits of whole body vibration.
I had previously been using a Power Plate (Next Generation) for about 6 weeks in a studio (purchase price approximately $11,000.00). I decided to purchase the Hypergravity Home Unit and was a little concerned about the performance and power level of a home unit compared to the Power Plate. All my concerns disappeared after the first use. They Hypergravity Unit is quality built, very powerful and I will be enjoying it for years to come….at less then half the price of the Power Plate. I am also using the Hypergravity back arc attachment with great results and am feeling supple and energized these days.
If you are interested in Whole Body Vibration, I highly recommend the Hypergravity Unit.

January 16th, 2007Susan A.,
Thanks for your comments of personal use. I am wondering about any instructions that come with the Hypergravity for beginners since we have no other studios around our area for acquaint ourselves with any machine. Is there enough information about ranges for beginners, intermediates, etc. and positions for same?
Again, thank you.
- Susan A.
January 16th, 2007Hi Kris,
Yes, the Hypergravity came with all kinds of information and instructions about ranges and positions. As well as a visual chart to follow for correct positions. Very informative.
- Kris
January 16th, 2007Thanks, Susan

January 17th, 2007Hallo Susan
I would like to ask you where did you buy the Hypergravity Machine ?
From a store or from the Hypergravity site ?
Did you prepaid them ?I want to buy the elite professional model and i strongly appreciate your answear .
- Susan A.
January 17th, 2007Hi Jason
I bought my unit off the Hypergravity web site after a few emails back and forth. I had it shipped from California to Ontario. I did use the Power Plate and also tried out the Turbo Sonic units but the Hypergravity was more in my price range and honestly it’s built like a tank and feels just as powerful. I dealt with Josh Haydon from Hypergravity, he was great and followed up with several calls to make sure I was pleased and understood the exercises. I paid in advance on my credit card, just in case there was a problem I could cancel the order and let Mastercard deal with the finances. I paid the shipping C.O.D. when it arrived.
I am very happy with it…my back feels great, my abs feel a bit tighter already and there really is something to all that elevated mood/hormonal talk that goes along with WBV…I feel good.
Susan
- Jason
January 18th, 2007Thanks Susan
I live in Greece and the only option is to prepay the amount for the machine .
If you were in my position would you trust them ?Thanks again
- Susan A.
January 19th, 2007Jason,
I was in the same position as you…concerned about paying up front and then not receiving the unit or not being happy with it…that’s why I put it on my credit card. To answer your question, yes I do trust them. I spoke with Josh several times and he is very genuine, I would deal with him again without any concerns.
I think you would be very happy with the product. - Kris
January 21st, 2007Susan,
My concern is just how one gets a machine serviced - warranty or otherwise - unless there would be someone familiar with the technology within your area. What do they say to do if such a need should arise?
Thanks
- Susan A.
January 22nd, 2007Servicing could be a problem. I can either ship it back (way too expensive) or contact someone in my area who knows about this technology. There are a few different WBV units available in my area and hopefully I can access their repair people, if needed. Yes this is a concern.

To whom it may concern,
This is a letter with reference to the articals thet Power Plate have been placing in magazines.
The artical seeks to imply that I have been helped by PowerPlate in the past and I am endorsing them for othered disabled people. Both of these implications are false.
Everything about my experiences and the benifits I felt are true but it all relates to the machine now know as the Vibro-Gym and Kevin Barkclay web.
I do believe Vibration training is of tremendous benefit to bisabled people but I do not want them to be misled by unscrupulous marketing.
Yours Truly
Chris BantinThe artical advert printed in D&CS FITNESS ( Disabled and supportive care mag )
It does imply all the way through the artical that Chris Bantin has been helped by Power-Plate and endorses it for everbody.
Now also remeber this was the new Chinese built unit that had massive problems from day one. So why would Power-Plate even let a disabled person near an uncalibrated unit.
Power-Plate once again shows us what they stand for.
- Wayne Campbell
January 25th, 2007Power Plates lack of ethics
I was involved in importing Vibro-Gym machines into New Zealand in 2006. PowerPlate are using research and endorsements on thier Chinese made machines that they have no right to - and are deliberatly mis-leading the public and business’s with this material.
The endorsements and research are for the original metal PowerPlate which is now the Vibro-Gym and NOT the PowerPlate that is now made in China from Plastic.
When I challenged PowerPlate on this I was told by a director of the company “This is normal business practice”
You be the judge

January 25th, 2007MY WIFE AND I ARE IN OUR EARLY 60′S. AFTER RESEARCHING DIFFERENT KINDS OF EXERCISE EQUIPMENT AND VISITING THE HYPERGRAVITY SHOWROOM, WE DECIDED THAT THE HYPERGRAVITY WOULD BE THE BEST MACHINE FOR US.WE PURCHASED OUR HYPERGRAVITY EQUIPMENT SEPT.06. WE USE IT 3-4 TIMES A WEEK. PHYSICALLY WE ARE NOW MORE FLEXIBLE,STRONGER AND FEEL LIKE WE ARE 15-20 YEARS YOUNGER. WE BOTH LOVE THE MACHINE. WE’RE EXCITED THAT THE HYPERGRAVITY IS LIVING UP TO AND EVEN EXCEEDING OUR EXPECTATIONS OF GIVING US A GREAT WORKOUT IN A SHORT TIME. WE USUALLY SPEND ABOUT 20 MINUTES ON THE HYPERGRAVITY AND FEEL LIKE WE’VE BEEN IN THE GYM FOR AN HOUR. WE’RE TEMPTED TO USE IT EVERY DAY AND SOMETIMES DO GET ON IT JUST FOR A FEW MINUTES TO LOOSEN UP OUR MUSCLES OR SHAKE OUT ANY KINKS WE’VE DEVELOPED FROM SITTING OVER OUR DESKS WORKING ALL DAY. JOSH HAS BEEN TREMENDOUSLY HELPFUL IN ANSWERING ANY QUESTIONS WE HAD ABOUT USING THE MACHINE. HE MAKES AN INCREDIBLY SOLID AND DURABLE PIECE OF EQUIPMENT AND WE EXPECT TO BE USING IT MANY YEARS FROM NOW.
STAN & MARY - Kris
January 25th, 2007Stan and Mary,
Did you purchase the personal model? And…does it stay in place and not do any walking?
Thanks for your experience. Sounds great!
Units usually only walk when the vibrations have a chance to alter the shore hardness of the rubber isolators ( usually about 6 months ).
And Hypergravity , a word of advice. Try not to get too carried away with the “endorsement posts”.
Or you may get a backlash. Remember this is primarily designed as an ideas forum . Not sales pitch.
- Susan A.
January 26th, 2007Hi Lloyd…
No sales pitch from me regarding Hypergravtiy. I’m a woman just sharing her first hand experience and so far it has been very positive….and yes, they do have a parts & labour warranty, for those of you who are asking.

January 26th, 2007If there are bad things about the Hypergravity, I’d love to know.
Previous to seeing it I’ve only been exposed to the PowerPlate. While aesthetically the PP is beautiful-the power-lack compared to the Hypergravity was shocking.
Plus the thing from what I could see did’nt have a hint of plastic. I know Lloyd endorsed it for personal use, if there are other units you would be giving the green light to to folks to use at home I’d imagine those will be forthcoming.
Also Lloyd, previously you mentioned that the holdup for vibratrain in the US was the idea that America is a very litigious place….let me tell you….you may have no idea to just what degree it is.
I could see Personal Injury guys licking their chops….which is a sad commentary on our society in general…Caution is advised, but I’d still love to see it here.
Nothing a 25 page legal release document with prior physician physical and physician authorization letter could’nt solve(:

Dont worry KG I have very good lawyers in the U.S. who specialize in this.

February 6th, 2007FOR THOSE WHO WANTED TO KNOW WHICH UNIT WE GOT,ITS THE PROFESSIONAL MODEL OFFERED BY HYPERGRAVITY. JUST GOT THE HYPERGRAVITY ARCH. CHRONIC BACK PAIN AFTER USING THE ARCH 7 TIMES WENT FROM A LEVEL 6 OUT OF 10 TO A LEVEL 2.
TO LLYOD: I VERY RARELY ENDORSE ANY PRODUCT…THE PRODUCT BY HYPERGRAVITY PROFESSIONAL MODEL WORKS EXTREMELY WELL FOR US.STAN & MARY
- Kris
February 6th, 2007Stan and Mary,
Thanks. Did you get the newer Olympic Professional model or the bit more expensive Elite Professional model? And was it pretty self explanatory in its instructions so that you don’t have to have any professional help in following positions, etc.?

February 24th, 2007My Father had a lung condition that caused so many other circulatory problems as well. The Hypergravity machine did a world of good for his blood circulation and his swollen ankles and feet had caused him so much pain before he used the machine! He would be on it for one minute and feel the difference. I have the updated smaller machine now and think its the best thing since sliced bread!! It makes you feel so invigorated and refreshed. I love the workout and the results are amazing. I swear by this unit and would not have any other equipment in my house…You don’t need anything else!!
Thank you Hypergravity for “Making the Difference”!!!!Richard Wagner and Tracie Cawley
Coeur d’Alene, Idaho Hypergravity customers…
you are not doing Hypergravity any favours by bombing this forum with endorsements. There have been about half a dozen almost identical ones now . That is enough.I personally support Htpergravity’s product and commitment to quality.
But this is the wrong place to advertise. You will get a backlash.
- Kris
February 25th, 2007Perhaps I should have placed this question here rather than the other post:
Can anyone give a comparison re: similarities and/or differences between Fitvibe and Hypergravity? I see that Fitvibe has a kind of insertible card with programs to follow. Hypergravity gives only a chart/poster of positions. Is the Fitvibe “personal coach” a good thing for learners? Are they both steel machines carrying the same weight load under pressure? Thanks.
- Jason
February 25th, 2007The FitVibe is Plastic, the Hypergravity is made of steel .
That says everything - Kris
February 25th, 2007Jason,
Then how come if Fitvibe is plastic it is listed here as both a therapy and training model? I thought plastic models were good only for therapy use. It’s not steel? - says it’s made in Germany. Please correct if not so.
Thanks

I have just seen an article on the Power-Plate here in South Africa. I am really interested in the time reduction and the opportunity to get a good training session without the joint and ligament pain from lifting weights. Can you recommend some vibration therapy machines for home use?
